It's some sort of womanly code. A hand on a stomach in a picture means pregnant. If you aren't pregnant, you don't dare touch your stomach, as that would draw attention to it, and the thing women hate most is people looking at sacks of lard hanging off their frontsides. Putting a hand on a pregnant belly in a photo says, "Hey, I'm not fat, some dude jacked me and now his sperm is growing inside me."
