+330 People shouldn't complain that there are too many songs about love or partying. What else are songs supposed to about? Days of the week? Amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There is a days of the week song.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. It's sort of supposed to be a reference to how bad "Friday" is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh. I was kinda talking about the one from 1st grade :) But yeah

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hm. My first thought was "Eight Days a Week."

There are politics, everyday experiences, and just life in general..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Rebecca black tried to do that.. It failed.. Misrably

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Rebecca Black is an exception..and I don't really consider that an everyday experience or life in general..

'Yesterday was Thursday (Thursday), Today, it is Friday (Friday)"

FUN. FUN. FUN. FUN.

Personally, I like songs about landslides and about how if you get knocked down, you should get up again.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I really like songs about climbing and getting the best of both worlds. Also, being reminded of how nobody's perfect through Disney channel stars singing out of key!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nature, current events, themselves, family, holidays, feelings, dreams, friendships, school, fridays, my jeans, there are a lot of things that you can sing about, so shut up

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're right. Clearly, in a global complex civilization with innumerable subjects and events happening constantly and a market of billions of people, the only two things that songs should be about are partying and love. I commend your ingenuity and predict you will go on to accomplish great things.

This comment made me so happy.

Friendship, revenge/anger, growing up, the past, life, grief. A lot of my favorite songs are about this stuff.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, let's take some famous rock songs Bohemian Rhapsody is about a gay guy coming out of the closet. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is about an acid trip. Wind of Change is about a historical event. And there are millions of others: Hotel California, Won't Get Fooled Again, Another Brick in the Wall... I could go on and on.

I can't think of any love/partying songs written by Pink Floyd. That's part of the reason I like them so much.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

High Five for liking Pink Floyd, although I can think of one that kind of fits a little into each category right away :P. Young Lust.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nope. It's about a rock star cheating on his wife. Hardly a love song.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pinky had a wife? Oh my, I must rewatch The Wall

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Although I wrote a bunch of examples of what a song could be about above, I would also like to say that I understand why a lot of songs are about love. It's an important emotion that people feel and experience in life. Now partying? I think the MINORITY of songs should be about this, especially when most of them these days are trashy!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You do know that Rebecca Black's song was also about partying, right? It was about "getting down on friday". The days of the week was something that made the song even more stupid that it already was, but the song wasn't really talking about days of the week. Also, songs could be about anything; losing a loved one, pain, war, sadness, grief, failure, success, hope, friendship, faith, death, regret, change, etc etc. Or in other words; LIFE. Which is why, even though I dislike rap, I love Eminem. He doesn't rap about love and sex and drugs and cars, but about life; about his life, his ex wife, his daughter, his mom, etc. And which is also why I really like The Fray. Now okay, I'm not saying there shouldn't be any songs about partying and that they should all be deep and stuff, because it would suck if I was at a party and they were playing some deep song. I prefer to listen and dance to rubbish songs at parties, and even sometimes when I'm alone and feel like singing or dancing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's just that they're all the same. Every love song, THE SAME. It gets annoying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fuck you and your ignorance in real music.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ever heard of the beatles?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If people complain about songs containing that subject matter, they're listening to the wrong music. May I recommend death metal?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most Classic Rock and some rap (like Tupac and Eminem) have meaningful, true topics. Those are the songs that should me made more often.

When I read this post, I didn't infer it to be that the ONLY good songs are about love and partying. I read it like a huge diss to Rebecca Black's "Friday."
