+406 One of the most awkward and scary things you can do is hold someone else's baby. After all the warnings and tips, you feel like you're going to do something wrong and hurt their precious child, amirite?

Plus, if you say that you don't want to hold the baby after being offered the chance to do so, it feels kind of rude...especially if you don't elaborate on your fears of hurting their child. ...People should just stop having children so we don't have to worry about such things. Problem solved.

Hey, they gave me their child to hold when I clearly said no so it's not my fault if I drop it.

I had to babysit a three month old once and it was terrifying. Luckily it slept the whole time but I just kept pacing with paranoia that it would wake up.

I think all people are like that with babies at the start, even their own mothers. Then you start to realise they aren't made of glass. Like, I'm not saying treat the kid like a football and dropkick it, but unless you're being harmful/careless on purpose, there's a low chance of the baby dying or having a serious injury.
