-172 Having one foot on the gas and the other on the brake would be easier than having one foot to step on both. You would have a better reaction time to cars in front of you and it wouldn't be like "aahh, my foot! It can't keep switching back and forth to two pedals!!!", amirite?

then people would probably end up pressing both pedals at the same time or mixing up the pedals

I believe Michael Schumacher and other pro racers use two feet, but i think, except for high performance, one foot is better.

I asked my Driver's Ed teacher why we only use one foot. Apparently because "That's how the last generation learned it."

If you rest your left foot on the brake pedal, it'll cause unnecessary wear on your brake pads, then you'll have to replace them faster.

I really hope you don't get your license anytime soon. I have a feeling you will be doing a lot of rear ending if you use the two foot method. The reason we only use one foot, is so you won't confuse the two and hit the wrong pedal at the wrong time. Like said in a previous comment, your dominate foot will tend to react in a panic situation.
