You take those negatively so you're in denial of it. Someone who knows you well is able to label you with categories. As far as strangers are concerned, one random dude generally acts a certain way and that's who he is to the outside world, unless anyone gets extremely interested in him. Then this young woman (not you of course) mugs people and that is generally how she is. So stereotypes are okay imo (rationalize before you immediately turn-off to that) to generalize how one person is or how a majority of a group of people is (as long as you know some of them are not that way.)

Actually, the shy thing is more an archetype since it's personality and it's not based off of looks or grouping. "All the people between 20 and 25 really like blue socks" Could be an accurate statistic if it were true and if you didn't use "All" as a generalization. But that's besides the point, because I think people just group everyone their own way by their own perspective. No one truly conforms to a whole society's way of doing everything. Racism is really overrated these days. And by that, I mean the topic of it. People are just paranoid that racism is as flaring as it used to be. "I can't be a doctor because I'm Asian." Well my doctor's Asian. Get some confidence in your race. We only need to be worried about people like the Neo-Nazis and the truly prejudice employers. Not the ones who have conversations like: "Hey dude, where's the fried chicken stand?" "I dunno, just look for a black guy with a cart."
