+192 A good start to finding an American's level of ignorance is by asking him what Martin Luther did and seeing if the person's response is that he was the one who had a dream, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure, it's sad that people don't know who Martin Luther was and instantly assume it's Martin Luther King Jr. But in reality, you can't blame them. It's like making fun of people for not knowing who Nikola Tesla or Roger Bacon were? Makes you look like an asshole.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I more just posted this because I thought people would like it. Most of my friends know more about history than I do. And I'm Satan! I've been on this planet since the dawn of man!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lies! Humans created you!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Technically you aren't satan. Mechanically, on the other hand...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): What? You dare say I am not the real Satan? To prove it to you, I will curse your planet! Now no one will ever discover the true cure for cancer!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm telling GOD.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): Then I will show God your browser history!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Good. Maybe he can get Internet Explorer 9 to actually RECORD my history. Half the sites that I've been to on this browser never show up, and I can never find the sites ever again!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): Heh heh heh. Internet Explorer was a little invention of mine. You like?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, I do. I got a month of hulu for free for pinning hulu to my task bar. I already got a month free before for something else, so I got two months out of hulu for nothin'. For a maniacal plot to rule the world, hulu sure has a lot of loop holes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): Gah! Who invented Hulu?!? I must destroy him! Well, I still have a backup sinister plan.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Martin Luther invented Hulu.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, right! He got shot years ago, after his speech!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

... wow. This is just... sad.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did Roger Bacon invent bacon? If so, then I'd consider him an American hero.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I like how you only said "Him".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What kind of pathetic world would this be if not even God knew what Martin Luther King did?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He was the protestant reformer of the Catholic church because he was a devout believer in 'sola fide,' amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope. He was the half blood prince.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No. He invented the slap-chop thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No no he invented the clapper.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, this is Patrick.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is Sparta.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow. I left you with a good opportunity to say that, and you say it like that. "This is Sparta." Wow. Way to show me. I feel the emotions. "This is Sparta." Ok, thanks. I feel like someone asked you "Hey, where are we?" Not some Persian person saying "This is madness!" To which the reply would be something like, "Madness? This... Is... SPARTAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Martin Luther had something to do with the Protestant Reformation, right? (I skipped all the comments above)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

amirite*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i'm a lutheran, so i get past this one

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or they assume that you mean MLK because he is much more well known, and you simply didn't add Jr. to it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, I said Martin Luther, not Martin Luther King.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but most people would just assume you meant Martin Luther King, because hes the more common one, despite their knowing of both, so they dont come off as a smartass at what very well may be an overlooking of kingship

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wait. I think that if they mention "Martin Luther," without the addition of the word "King" to the end of it, chances are they actually are talking about the reformer.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have a better way of knowing. As soon as I know someone is American, I know that they are ignorant. I don't require any stupid tests to figure this out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, you're the ignorant one if you believe a generalisation about millions of people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*hundreds of millions

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why is EVERYTHING having to do with ignorance qualified by using Americans?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I actually had to say "American" because the United States is the most familiar with Martin Luther King, Jr. I assume other countries would think of Martin Luther before they thought of Martin Luther King, Jr.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes I considered that but I would think MLK Jr. is a pretty iconic figure, even in non-American countries. Besides the fact that Martin Luther was 400 years ago.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, this is where MY ignorance comes into play. (You see, this post is not in any way supposed to be my way of saying I am smarter than others.) Now, I am not sure whether or not students in other countries actually are taught too much about Martin Luther King, Jr.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lol. i asked my sister she said the same thing but we're not american.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why is this only targeted to Americans?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because Martin Luther King Jr. is more well known to Americans.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know a lot of people that would just assume you're shortening MLKJ. If you specified the white one, more people would know what you're talking about.
