+128 If you live in Texas, or even visit, you realize not all Texans have that Southern drawl or "twang" that people identify us with so often, amirite?

I think that Texas and Florida are the nicer parts of the southern U.S.

I feel like this post has been done before many times.

Depends on where in Texas you go. I'm from the dfw area, and here you dont see really twangy people (often), but there is still an accent. But if you go to the rural parts, that's where you find real thick accents.

Fort Worth!

I live in west Texas in one of the smallest rural towns in the state and the only people that even have a hint of an accent are the old cowboys. Everybody under the age of 50 has no accent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I live outside of Austin and the further out you go, the stronger the accents get.

Yup!! I'm from texas and I agree!! TEXAS FTW!!!

I'm from Texas, going to college in Ohio. Every conversation I had a Orientation went something like: "Where're you from?" "Texas" "Wow, what brought you to Ohio?" "Um...it's a good school?" "You don't sound like you're from Texas." "...Sorry?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You probably don't think so because it's less noticeable than other people, but if you grew up in Texas you probably have the accent.

I just came back from my mission trip to Arkansas, and there were people from Ohio there with us. They kept making fun of the way we talked and exaggerating our words. Every time they saw us they said "Howdy, ya'all!" (y'all exaggerated) and we replied with "Hey, you guys!"

Well I've spent most of my life in Texas but I've also lived in Connecticut, so I've grown up around different accents. I live in the DFW area so there aren't alot of people I know with heavy accents. Friends from other places do notice I have a bit of an accent though, and yes I say "y'all".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I say "ain't" and "ya'll" but I don't have much of an accent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah that's how I am too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've lived in Texas all my life and I don't say "yall" or "aint" and I have no accent whatsoever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Y'all" just flows better than "you all" or "you guys". But that's just me,
