+205 It's weird how we use the word 'unscathed' but never 'scathed'. We say "He emerged unscathed." but not "He was scathed after the fight.", amirite?

Well, I use it to mean burned, and I use it as a verb, but it's true we don't see it being used to mean harmed very often.

Tomorrow's word of the day: scathed.

I say 'scathing' sometimes.

This reminds me of something I noticed. The word "Rejuvenate" is fairly common, but I have never heard just the word "Juvenate". If you can be rejuvenated, why can't you be juvenated?

The same reason you don't hear "dephlogisticate" every day.
