+331 It's ridiculous how hard Pitbull owners have to fight in order to keep their dogs now. There is almost nothing sadder than seeing a good dog being put down because other dogs of the same breed are aggressive. amirite?

It's not always just pitbulls. I know that wasn't the point of your post, but it kind of annoys me when people think that pitbulls are the only misunderstood dog breeds.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know that, and I totally agree. I just used Pitbulls as an example.

Yeah, haha. My dog's a rottie and you wouldn't believe some of the looks I get when I take her on walks, but she's the sweetest thing I've ever met.

Any dog can make a wonderful, loving, docile pet.

At first I thought "Pitbull" was referring to that obnoxious singer and was rather confoosed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are several things sadder....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not that pit-bulls are aggressive or crazy but it's their bite, even if they bite someone by accident their jaw get locked and the pit-bull usually is put down to open its jaw, which is really sad. A lot of breeds are way crazier but this one though it can be docile has the most dangerous bite, I'm sorry

by Anonymous 12 years ago

... Really? Their jaws lock? That's actually quite impossible... That is a total myth, sir.

Idk, this anonymous guy on the Internet who cant spell pitbull correctly seems pretty legit.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There is no type of dog that has a locking mechanism in its jaw. Pitbulls are just much more powerful than many other breeds, so only experienced owners should handle them. Oh, and "pitbull" can be spelled different ways, so I won't rag on the anon for using a hyphen.

Any dog has the potential to be vicious if mistreated. Breed stereotyping really annoys me, mostly because I have a standard poodle as a service dog and everyone's always like "No way! THAT'S your service dog???" I also know a woman who has a pit bull as her service dog and a lot of stores try to stop her from coming in because they're afraid the dog will be aggressive. It's very irritating.

My older sis and her bf had a few dogs and one of them was a pitbull who was a total sweetheart. She was the nicest dog there but then she was hit by a car :( I think 'vicious' breeds like pitbulls are completely misunderstood. It's stupid that they're banned in some places, it all depends on how they're trained and what they're basic personality is, not their breed.

my cousin had a fire in his house and ge wasnt home. he had the worlds sweetest pitbull and she had no way to get out so she died by choking on the smoke. they later found her in a corner, dead and curled up. it broke my heart.

There are lots of murderous humans, but not all humans get sent to jail.

We rescued a 6 week old pitbull out of the township where she was bred to fight. We've raised her with more love than you can imagine and now, a year and a half later, she is the sweetest, most absolutely loving animal we have ever had.

Dogs are like children, they learn from what they are tought. You can teach any dog to be as visious as people say rotties or pitbulls are. But it's all about the owner and what the dog is tought or how it's handled.
