+88 It's weird and somewhat annoying when teenage girls always refer to their parents as mommy and daddy, amirite?

For some reason, I don't mind the "daddy" one, but when teenage girls call their mom "mommy" it makes me angry.

But I loves my mommy and daddy! : (

It depends on my mood what I call my mom. It varies between Mom, Momma, and very rarely Mommy. I always seem to call my dad Dad though. Sometimes I still call him Daddy. I am his little girl.

I never stopped calling my mom Mummy. I have no idea why, but all my brothers and sisters do that. If I randomly started calling her mom now, it would be weird. When I'm talking about them though, I just say my mom, or my dad.

My mum hates being called mummy so I never did that, I usually call my dad, dad but sometimes I still call him daddy even though i'm in my 20s he seems to like it.

That last part sounds creepier than it is...

Hahahahaha

I still call my parents mommy and daddy because I have 4 younger brothers and sisters that all call them that. I've just never grown out of the habit with me being around 3 year olds to 12 year olds.

It'd be worse if teenage boys called their dad "daddy."

I think OP means whenever speaking to someone else not there own parents. For example: A girl tells her friend "My daddy bought this necklace for my birthday." It is really annoying!

exactly.

My mom is in her 40's and still calls her parents "mommy" and "daddy". It's just what she calls them, and it's not really that weird at all.

I call my parents Mami and Papi which are the spanish versions. It is very common in my family no matter what age you are. I do however say mom and dad around friends.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

this is exactly what i was gonna say. its not weird at all in our culture to say 'mammi' or 'pappi' when you are sorta old. it would be weird if you said 'mama'

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I don't think I've ever called my parents "mama" and "papa" to their faces. My friends ask why I don't just call them mom and dad. Because it's weird!!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

they would be like 'who are you talking to'

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I used to call them mommy and daddy. The I tried mom and dad but that was too weird so now I call them mother and father.

I just turned 14. I stopped calling my mom "mommy" when I was 11 or 12, and I usually call my dad "daddy" just because...well...I don't really know, actually..I just do :)
