I don't get why people make weight such an issue, a person can be a "skinny twig sex symbol" and still have talent just like someone who is overweight can be talented. There are a lot of people who are not known as a sex symbol but are still famous.

Well I think the poster is referring to people relying on looks to become famous (which is what a lot of people do) instead of talent.

you're right that there skinny actractive people withtalent but a lot of people are famous because of their looks and many people judge overweight people in negative way and you see wayyy less overweight people famous just because theyre not "hot" enough

I'm not disagreeing with you, but back then being really skinny like today's models was not even attractive. Women wanted Marilyn's figure because she was an hourglass.

Using today's sizing, Marilyn Monroe was about an 8, but she also had a tiny waist (like 22 inches tiny) and huge hips, the hips making her size that large. The hour glass figure is what was considered attractive, just like having boobs and a nice ass are still considered attractive today. She wasn't overweight, like Adele (whose weight shouldn't matter, and the only reason it's even discussed it people defending her).
