I dunno. He's the president, isn't he supposed to be in charge?

if he was a dictator, Democrats ruled all of House and senate, sure. Then every decision made would be on him and his party. but that's not the case. Many things can be blamed on him, but not all of it.

I see what you mean, but it's not as if the Tea Party controls the House, Senate and White House, either. All I'm saying is, 1) the blame can't be placed solely on a relatively small faction of the House, and 2) Obama didn't exhibit leadership in the debate aside from making speeches about compromise.

I never said the Tea Party controlled the government, I was replying to your statement about what OBAMA controlled. Wtf did you expect Obama to do to exhibit leadership? Or are you one of those people who fails to aknowledge the work it goes behind the scene of being president and all the meetings he set up with Boehner and everyone to try and get a deal done before America defaults, and instead only pays attention to what they see on tv. Because somehow, what they show on political news reports, sums up everything a president does. Be realistic.

I was clarifying my original comment in addition to replying to yours. I think good leadership would have been to make a specific plan for cuts and/or tax increases, send it to the Republicans, and then negotiate towards a compromise from there.

"I think good leadership would have been to make a specific plan for cuts and/or tax increases, send it to the Republicans, and then negotiate towards a compromise from there." Do you even pay attention? Obama and Dems have been doing that constantly up until the downgrade, only to have their plans shot down by Republicans in the House. Same goes for the Republicans; they have been making plans only to have it shut down in the Senate by Democratic senators. The fact that you said that Obama hadn't made any cuts in their plans, never sent anything to the Republicans, and never negotiated it from there, really makes me question know knowledge of ongoing politics. Wow.. Tell me something, if Obama never did the things you say he didn't, then how did we manage to get a deal and thus not default on our loans? You know what, nevermind, continue on thinking that Obama hadn't done any negotiating. Maybe you're right; being a president is easy. All you do is make speeches, and the deal that existed because Obama and Republicans negotiated? Never existed.

We got a deal because Congress finally negotiated a compromise. I don't deny that discussions never took place. What I'm saying is that Barack Obama never proposed a bill of any kind. There's no list of cuts or revenue increases that he put on a piece of paper. He didn't put anything out for the American people to see. Meanwhile, there was Cut, Cap, and Balance and the Boehner bill from the Republicans, and the Reid plan from the Democrats.
