You wonder whether the voice in your head is generic... because it certainly isn't your own, amirite?

Yeah right?! I gotta tell that guy to calm down. He's out of control.

I can't tell what kind of voice mine is. It's hard to imagine it with inflection and everything.

My voice is definitely not mine. Mostly because my voice sounds different every month.

It sometimes resembles my voice in inflection a d speech patterns, but it's deeper, like a guy's voice, almost.

I have more than one...

Now I can't figure out if it sounds like me or not.

If I'm reading something that I know the author of, it's in a different voice, but if it's just a sign or something, it's in my voice. Like if it's a post on here, I see that's it was written by so and so, and it's in this weird voice.

Mine is a very calm and much lower version of my own voice I think.

I used some 5 minutes thinking about the voice in my head. I read the comment above this one like I normally would, then I tried with a Bugs Bunny voice, and it worked, and then a few more voices and they all worked, except for Donald Duck, damn duck never makes any sense.
Strange thing indeed. I guess the voice in my head turns into whatever person or character's voice which I associate what I'm reading the most. Except when It's something like a newspaper, then its what I just call "The Voice" it has no distinct qualities, its just "The Voice".

The accent I think in is the same as mine so I'm figuring it's my voice. I think.

If I read something in my head in a voice that is not my own, I find myself clenching my vocal chords as if I were speaking that way.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's my own voice.. Unless I'm reading a book or something, then it sounds like I think the character should sound like.
