+171 It's funny how some Christians don't believe in evolution. The only way Adam and Eve's descendants could have branched out into different races is through evolution, amirite?

Adam and Eve's descendants also had to commit incest, so why is it illegal for us to commit incest?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How is that relevant to the post? I wasn't talking about law or morality

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The first time we see God tell us not to commit incest is in the time of Moses (Leviticus 18-20). Today it is illegal because of the high risk of defects caused by a child receiving two copies of a defected gene. Adam and Eve's children likely wouldn't have had as many defective genes as sin had not been on the earth as long as it is now, therefore making it safer (and obviously necessary) to intermarry.

Btw that's a possibility, not saying it's the exact reason.

I know that some people believe that at the Tower of Babel, when different languages were formed, He also created different races.

Micro-evolution (change within a species) is a very different thing from macro-evolution (change from one species to another.)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

not really...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's called speciation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciation

Don't post about the bible if you haven't read it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yeah, this is bullshit.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Adaptation is way different than evolution.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm curious as to what you mean here. Adaptation is the mechanism by which evolution is possible.

You know, you really shouldn't post comments you know nothing about. I can tell you know little to nothing of the Christian faith because of this comment. If you knew more about the bible and what's in it, then you'd know about a certain incedent called the Tower of Babble. Read up on it, then maybe you'll know where you went wrong. Also, Christian's don't believe in evolution. If they do, they aren't in the as word as they say they are.

Most Catholics, who are Christians, do believe in evolution. Even macro evolution. They just believe that somewhere between ape and the human we are today, God infused a soul.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"they aren't in the as word as they say they are." Can someone please explain what this means? Also, God could have accomplished the same goal by just destroying the tower, and it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble. Therefore the tower should still exist today. Where is it?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

what christians mean by "being in the word" is that one is in current compliance with the doctrine of the bible, which people all interpret differently from one another, so basically it means so and so is doing things the way you would do them. because you are always right.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When you say "you," do you mean any given person, or are you referring to my About Me? I'm not really "always right" (that's just some random thing I say for some reason), but in discussions like these, nobody has ever managed to prove me wrong.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

it was a generic you referring to all people; everyone believes that they personally are right. i didnt read your about me, although now im going to.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

also, i could argue with stupid people all day and never lose an argument, saying you've never lost an argument is no indication of how correct your point is.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You can argue with me if you want. As my profile says, I am pro-gay and pro-choice. I am against capital punishment. I believe in evolution and the big bang theory, and they do not contradict the existence of God. I think religious arguments are stupid.

Evolution has nothing to do with Adam and eve branching out. It's call reproduction. The different animals and species were already there before Adam was made.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Actually, scientists already recently discovered humans are too genetically diverse to come from two people. I think. You could look into it.
