+432 When i think of 9/11, not only do I think of those who lost their lives in the attack, I think of how great our country reacted to it. Instead of cowering in fear like Terrorists wanted us to, we stood up proudly and said "This is OUR country, and you will never break us, you will NEVER change our way of life. As long as there is someone to hold our flag in the air, we will never give in, we will FIGHT." Amirite?

Very cheesy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

your entitled to your opinion i suppose

by Anonymous 12 years ago

WOAH!!! 9 ups 11 downs...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if they were trolls and wanted any reaction. Also it did affect our country they broke us in a way that made us come together if that makes sense. Also terrorist is just what you call people that terrorize. The group that attacked was Al Qaeda. Not trying to make fun of you by making this comment btw.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but my point is we didnt try to sit around and appease them. I know what a terrorist is, and Al Queda is a terrorist group, and there are other terrorists that would have liked to see us crumble, but we didnt.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah we went to the Middle East and killed tons of innocent people that had nothing to do with the terrorist attack and we are still there for some reason. I do not believe Bush handled it well. I mean I still love America though, but 9/11 is the only time when anyone ever thinks of "coming together".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If we killed innocent poeple, it wasn't purposly. Theres always accidental death in war, its a sad fact. If we had been passive, we would only have suffered from more attacks. Thats how I see it anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then consider the Americans killed on 9/11 as collateral damage.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are some American soldiers that kill innocent Middle Easterns on purpose. War life isn't as patriotic as we think.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No...9/11 was an act by Al-Qaeda which wasn't stationed in Iraq at the time anyways. Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, nor did any major part of the Iraqi government.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...Way to kill my mood, there. I was all like 'HELL YEAH GOD BLESS AMERICA' until I read that ._.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, because it's not like they did the exact same thing but worse.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

THIS IS SPARTA!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, this is Patrick.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In the past ten years, there has been one terrorist attack and one war on terror. In the former, almost 3,000 people died. In the latter, something like one million (1,000,000) people died (it's not certain, but this is a somewhat conservative estimate. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_terror#Casualties). Did the terrorists win? Well, they're TERRORists. They work with terror. Have they terrified us? Yes. Have they riled up hundreds of millions of people, caused the economic recession, and convinced us to hate Muslims a bit more? Yes. I think, in all senses of the word, the terrorists have won.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And you voted yya?.....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

See jjohns1287's post below.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you look at it from that prespective, yes, they won. But if we had not declared war upon terrorist organizations that threaten our security as a nation, we would have been truly afraid. And you cant directly blame a recession on terrorists, there are many factors that contribute to that. Hate isnt fear either for that matter. Those who hate muslims are idiot bigots, not all muslims are terrorists.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, the recession isn't entirely because of them, of course not, but I think a big factor is the trillions of dollars spent on the war. Of course none (or few) of us consciously hate Muslims, but the fact that terrorism is caused by Islam is just another factor in our subconscious view of the world. The organizations who listen to phones actually had all the information that 9/11 was about to happen - phone calls were made, flying lessons taken. Nobody did anything because they didn't share the information with anybody. Since then, they've begun sharing information with everyone. Airplane pilots are now armed and trained with their weapons. The door to the cockpit is barred and not to be entered under any circumstances except by staff. There hasn't been a single successful attack since 9/11. Osama bin Laden is dead. In the end, there are purposes for the war, but America has to learn that the way to get peace is not to kill everyone who's messing up the peace. Sometimes we have to leave things alone, and not mess with the affairs of other people. Other countries have been abused in far worse ways than 9/11, and they put up with it. Sorry that was so long.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nobody should take abuse. Also, no terrorism is "caused by Islam." I agree with you on the whole though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. It's not caused by it, but it seems like it. Subconsciously, people accept that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But nobody curses Christians to the fiery pits of hell because of the Crusades. Religion has been used as a tool for evil since religion was created. It's stupid, but it happens. The reason it works is because people are judgmental idiots.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, I agree. It only works because people are stupid, but they are stupid, and it does work.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Which is truly unfortunate. Especially given how much this western world claims to be intelligent, and yet the majority (or at least the loudest voices, which are probably the minority) of people are bigots and frankly a bit racist. It's just stupid. No better word.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Everyone is denialist. "Freedom is the freedom to say 2 + 2 = 4. When that is given, all else follows." - George Orwell And yet, everyone believes the U.S. history classes and We The People and the Declaration of Independence and the pledge of allegiance that they've said every day of their lives since first grade. They hate the commies and the terrorists with a blind passion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What's odd is how people immediately associate Islam or Muslims or turbans with terrorism. I'm pretty sure there are terrorist groups within the States from the States... Regular ol' citizens who hate their own country (or politicians, or prostitutes, or science labs, or whatever). Terrorists are more than just the one group (Al Qaeda, not Islam [obviously]).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Said proudly by thrashtilldeath666.. but still very beautiful.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I lol'd so hard at this xD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't get it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol same

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hated our country's reaction to it. We basically said "Oh you killed 3,000 of us, so now we have an excuse to kill a whole bunch of your people." Taking more innocent lives just because they live in the same country as the terrorists doesn't solve anything. There's a reason this war still hasn't ended.

Americans are bad ass like that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do not admire the way our country reacted to 9/11 at all, I'm quite frankly disgusted by it. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been a terrible waste money, resources and most importantly, human lives. In Iraq alone, more than 100,000 civilians have been killed by our country's "great reaction". Sure, its sweet that we wave around our flags and feel sorry for the victims of 9/11 but it means absolutely nothing if we continue to send men and women to die in a needless decade long bloodbath. "an attack that was designed to break us apart as a nation has bound us together stronger than we were before." -George W. Bush

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't want to have bonds where it's based around everyone mutually hating something or someone. That just turns us into a group of bullies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see what you are saying. A country that is united in its hatred for another country is not a united country.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No matter how we reactee to it, my heart still aches whenever i think about it. let us never forget those who gave their lives and those who lost it without a choice

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Too bad we spent 10+ years in the wrong country. If only Bush hadn't used this as an excuse to carry out his father's biding, and could admit he made mistakes on where Osama was at instead of steadfastly carrying on his mission against terror....I agree with going to war over Al Queda, don't agree with the way it was handled. They deserve to be punished, deserve to know we won't put up with their shit. That they can't hurt us and expect the country to lay down their arms and give up. What we should have done is screamed "Nobody puts USA in a corner" and then started dirty dancing around....They would have been pissed at our western ways and as they were sitting there in confusion at our actions we could have kicked their asses

by Anonymous 12 years ago

AMERICA FUCK YEAH!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Who the fuck voted no way on this?!? There not talking about how we went to war after this. They're talking about how everyone in the country came together to support one another and build our lives back up, and move on from this

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I did. I voted No Way. I don't think a few weeks of flag waving and patriotic music even begins to make up for ten long years of bloodshed, the torturing of thousands at Guantanamo Bay, the invasion of US privacy via Bush's Patriot Act, and the fact that the US wastes more of its money on its military than almost all other countries combined. I think instead we should commemorate September 10th, 2001: the last day in American history that we weren't freaking the hell out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

God bless America As far as the war goes, I say we take all of our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan we and put them around our border. I don't care how long we're in Afghanistan, the second we leave the Taliban going to come back. It's inevitable; these people are patient as hell.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Their goal was to weaken us so that we have less influence in Europe, Africa, and Asia, where Islam is expanding to. They've done that.
