A large part of the U.S. president's job is to be a calm, cool, and collective figurehead and bureaucrat. His job is to talk and to sign things that Congress agrees on, but not actually do things. One of the only times he has real power is during national and international crises. It's much more important to elect senators and representatives who aren't career politicians, since those are the ones that can actually get things accomplished.
