+460 In One Republic's "Apologize" the lyrics go: "I loved you with a fire red; now it's turning blue." It's safe to say that somebody didn't know that blue fire is actually hotter than red fire, amirite?

or maybe they knew, but the pop music community has remarkably low standards for intelligent lyrics, and they were desperate to rhyme with something, so they went with it

That might be worse than them being mistaken. I would rather them have some faith in the public and make intelligent lyrics, but I do admit that "I loved you with a fire blue; now it's turning red," doesn't sound as nice.

I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A POST LIKE THIS, GOD DAMN IT.

Haha, this has been on my mind for a long time ever since I first heard the song.

Every time I hear that song when I'm with someone, I point that out. Every. Time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You should, lol. I do it sometimes, too.

Or they were using the word fire to describe the type of red, and then the red turned to blue... So it wasn't necessarily a fire they were describing.

Yeah, maybe it has to do with fire and ice- heat and coldness.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hmm, interesting way to look at it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well blue fire is hotter, which would mean it burns out quicker. so it could mean that the love is burning out quickly..?

Or maybe he is falling more in love with her and it sucks because she fucked him over..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why's that a bad thing? hello

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think they are talking about the size of the flame.

I like all of the possible interpretations, haha. You've gotta pay attention to song lyrics!
