I prefer to think of it as "I before E except after C -- unless it's weird."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I before E, except after C, or if it sounds like "a" as in neighbor and weigh. All those "a" ones need to be dropped off. Good post but don't disregard the second half of the rhyme. *waits to be downvoted for taking this too seriously*

"InB4 downvote for taking this too seriously" FTFY

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not sure I know what FTFY means.

Fixed that for you

"I before E, except after C, or if sounding like A as in neighbor and weigh. And on weekends and holidays and all throughout May. And you'll always be wrong no matter WHAT you say!" - Brian Regan

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought the same.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't even know there was a second half of the rhyme, I only heard the "I before E, except after C" part...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Way to ruin your comment with that last bit.

Science

by Anonymous 12 years ago

they put an i before e when there was a c, this is gettin' too crazy yall.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Words which contain E before I, but are in different syllables, should be removed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That was nice and alphabetical until "surveillance".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hm. That is pretty weird.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

idk if a lot of these are just random words or not, but about half of them I've never heard before in my LIFE

by Anonymous 12 years ago

caffeine casein cleidoic codeine and counterfeit all follow the rule..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The rule means directly after a "c" like in ceiling, it doesn't count if there's letters in between.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i dont know what half those words mean ill trust you they are real

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You forgot Budweiser.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's a name though. Does it really count?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pretty sure "being" doesn't count since you are simply adding ing to to a word to make another legitimate word.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I bet you didn't alphabetize those words, so I'm assuming you copped the list from another site. Also you could have used commas. But, I do like this post.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

you used my name in your post :)
