+274 There was a time when you were little, and thought that all you had too do to eliminate proverty was too print lots of money and give it to the poor people, and you wondered why everyone didn't do that, amirite?

I still don't get the whole "We can't fix the economy by printing more money thing". People say that if we print more money then everything will have to go up in price, but what I don't get is why. I mean, surely if having more money means everything has to be more expensive, then why didn't prices go down when we lost all that money to... somewhere.

It didn't just get lost. There is the same amount of currency, but more people. The gold, even though we really don't have enough, is still in the same ratio to currency.

People in my 9th grade World History class still think this. I think they may have gotten the picture when we were talking about Germany attempting it post WWI.
