+716 It's weird to think that you never really touch anyone, or anything because the electrons around the atoms of your body repel against the electrons of everything else. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've always thought of that I was just to lazy to right it down/look it up lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hate when I'm too lazy to left something down

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sorry for just copying you, I read you're comment and just got it after I posted mine. I'm a r-tard

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm a D-Tard nice to meet you sir.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Indeed a great pleasure. I've never met a celebrity before.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No that's D-List, not D-tard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see you're also too lazy to spell.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's a rather depressing thought too

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think its crazy how living things and non living things are made up of the exact same things. It makes me wonder what the difference is between atoms in people and atoms in a rock or something are.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then science added quarks just to fuck with us

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Atoms in biotic things form cells, which are considered life because they meet qualifications, while abiotic things are just made up of molecules that don't form cells.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most of everything is nothing. So if you had powerful and precise enough magnets you could walk through walls.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

New life goal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Have fun, seeing as it's impossible to tell the location of an electron. But walking through walls would be amazing so count me in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hahahaha I know it's impossible... that was the one piece of information that pissed me off the most in chem last year. I don't like being told that something is impossible; I'm wicked stubborn so my natural reaction would be to try and find a loophole or something. Then I just end up confusing the fuck out of myself.... xD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

See that made me mad too, so I'm just taking it out on electrons in general, especially since we've gotten into bonding. Sometimes the electrons do this, sometimes they do that. Dang it electrons, why can't you make up your mind? (figuratively of course)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's soo true. And what's with those fucking s/p/d/f shells and transferring and shit?! Like seriously, I passed that class but I still don't understand that AT ALL. Electrons suck -.-

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then my teacher is telling us about how there's so much stuff at the atomic level that physicists haven't figured out yet. If they can't get it right at the small level, then that'll screw everything up at the bigger levels (like compounds, molecules, etc). So my proposition is, "Until atomic physicists can get their shit together, we shouldn't have to learn any chemistry."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

GAH EXACTLY. like, what's the point if, say, they discover something that completely changes everything we learned? This may not be meant go with the situation but it still sort of makes sense: don't count your damn chickens before they hatch! -_____________-

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Einstein's theory of evolution has recently been proven false. (No joke, my mom's friend's son is a high-up, super smart scientist and his colleagues proved it wrong. )

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If by Einstein you mean Darwin youre still probably wrong

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're right. European scientists found that neutrinos can travel faster than light, and that ruins the theory of special relativity.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, my mom is involved in the experiments that said they proved the theory of relativity wrong. She says that they didn't have legamite evidence, and it's probably just all wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not having legitimate evidence doesn't make it wrong. It's a theory. Was there evidence against the theory?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

From what I understood, it was really sketchy evidence that ended up undermining everything we have already proved in science. So I guess the evidence against the theory would be that the data they drew these conclusions from is wrong. If the data's wrong, then there's no proof that this is true, and it's pretty doubtful that shoddy conclusions can undermine everything we know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ok. I get what you mean now. I don't want to have everything I know changed. It makes my head hurt.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Alright so here's the deal. Scientists at a particle accelerator in Switzerland shot neutrinos and photons (light) to a detector in Italy, and the neutrinos won, and that's what proves Einstein's theory wrong. But the results are sketchy because the particles ended up going through a mountain, and because the locations were so far away from each other, the straight line between the locations that the particles took was through the Earth itself. I'd just like to also point out that this completely backs up my theory dealing with physicists really not knowing squat about particles and stuff, and therefore my theory should be accepted by the education board and be put into place RIGHT NOW so I don't have to take chemistry anymore.

*reletivity

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*relativity. Today is just not my day, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wait, Einstein was the evolution guy? I thought it was Darwin.... but anyways, how'd they do it?!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Bucket List: Meet Anthony Bungee Jump See the world Walk through walls

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You've got your priorities straight :D

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Science can really screw with your head.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Please explain ._.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and no i'm not fucking mormon lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mormon: http://ctrlv.in/46036

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't wanna search "fucking mormon" on Google images...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

FACK! FACK! Would you consider mine a repost? This one is original and I think I may have reposted. http://amirite.net/668560

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No you're doing it wrong. Wait til this gets POTD then report the repost so you get POTD.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hahahaha. His came first, though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, then whatever you do, don't get that post as POTD. Cause if you do, then it's GONE! And I mean gone, when that mod deleted the POTD yesterday I couldn't even look at my comments from it anymore (which pisses me off cuz that occupy amirite comment was awesome).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thank you, thank you. cool I hope it doesn't even get homepaged.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Good. It's gone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Forever alone...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel bad for electrons.. All the preppy protons and neutrons are hanging out at the nucleus and they're just by themselves..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's why they're so negetive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess they're just not in their element.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're just negative because they're hipsters, then once it becomes mainstream you just get a giant, neutral mess.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did you just finish watching VSauce on Youtube....... ;D

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This made me feel quite lonely :(

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe I actually DO have that protective bubble everyone says I need...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

MC Hammer was on to something d http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otCpCn0l4Wo

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm smashing my finger on the table. Is it touching yet?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

not yet. smash HARDER

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It hurts (cry2)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just slammed my head on a rock. Either it touched or my nerves are being douchebags.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What you talkin' bout? You god!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Technically...no.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well.... fuck un

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's also really weird to think. Damn hypothetical constructs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

OOOO VSAUCER.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So I'm never really touching the ground? If I lay down, do I become Superman?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're already Superman.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So I'm levitating? Cool.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Penn State tried telling that to the police, but that didn't work.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When we learned that in science last year, as soon as the class got out there was just a huge chorus of "I'm not touching you~" in the halls. XD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

just because atoms repel, doesnt mean we dont force them to meet others, and since we feel it in our nerves, its kind of the definition of touch

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, technically you don't ever touch anything. The nerves are being affected are being affected because of the repelling force.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

which, is touch

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see you missed the reply button. So I guess it just depends on what you think touching something means.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Coulumb's (sp) law.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

no... i don't think its the electrons. The only thing that keeps me from touching you is that restraining order.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So it WASNT rape if i didnt touch them right?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My friend said that the other day. I'm serious.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, "that" is a pretty common English word. I would be more surprised if your friend had said a word like "jumentous" or "xenobombulate".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm totally in denial about this. Anyone wanna make out?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

sure! :D

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I got in trouble for sitting on a table at school today. My comeback? "I'm not actually sitting on the table. I'm levitating."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So you watch Vsauce.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Touch" refers to one of our senses. This one being a response to the reaction between our nerves and whatever other object we come into "contact" with. Think about it, words such as "touch" and "contact," etc. aren't really defined as zero distance between a finger and a key. The "no distance between two objects" definition of touch is just something we came up with from observing. So yeah, we actually are touching (actual definition) things, but at the same time we're not touching (observed definition) things. There we go, I fixed my world :D.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was comforted at first when I read the first part... "It's weird to think that you never really touch anyone..", thinking, hey, I'm not the only one who doesn't have anyone! Then it went on about electrons. /forever alone

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Arguably, the electrons are parts of the atoms which are parts of our bodies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And it's called touching anyways so you are touching....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So saying " I'm not touching you" when you are a kid is technically correct?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

what about when something goes through you????

by Anonymous 12 years ago
