+142 You're not really "pro-choice", you're pro-do what you want with your life; it doesn't affect me, why should i be telling you what to do with your body, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I support a woman's right to choose, yes...that makes me pro-choice.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How about because if she's carrying an unborn child inside her, it's not just her body anymore?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nah, I think it's still hers.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's hers, but it's not JUST hers. Another body is still there. disclaimer: I am pro choice.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not what I meant, genius. Read colebowl's comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Same thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How will that fit in a bumper sticker?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pro-dowhatyouwantunlessitcausesharmtoanotherhumanbeing, as in the case of abortion. Babies are people too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Technically, until a baby is born, its a parasite. If a woman can rid her body of a tape worm, she should be able to rid her body of a child. How about this: someone is born with a part of another human on them. An absorbed twin, do you oppose them removing the part that doesn't belong to them because its living? Or do you not care because it had nothing to do with you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If it's another human being that's attached, then yes I care. Why does it matter if it doesn't directly affect me? It's morally wrong. We put murderers and rapists in jail- 99.9% of the time the crime didn't directly affect the policeman, prosecuter, judge, jury, or anyone else involved in the judicial process, but we punish them because what they did is wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Cheating is morally wrong, its not punishable by jail time.. your morals are different than mine, that doesn't make yours better. Just different. I think its morally wrong to eat animals but if I stood at your dinner table yelling at you telling you to you're going to hell and just being a general pain in the ass, you wouldn't like it, would you? How about you live your life and I'll live mine and as long as what I do doesn't hurt you, you keep your annoying opinions to yourself? If one is against abortion, I'm not sure why just not getting abortions isn't enough.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't yell at anyone telling them they're going to hell for having an abortion. Don't judge me based on the actions of a few radical idiots. I'm simply stating my opinion. This is an opinion-based website, so stop freaking out over it. Some morals have to be enforced legally (such as murder, rape, theft, etc). To just say "well, to each his own! It doesn't affect me!" would just be stupid and despicable. The issue here is whether abortion should be one of those that is legally enforced. Obviously, you and I disagree on that. But it's just ridiculous to say that no one should be able to tell anyone else what to do because it's none of their business.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not freaking out, I'm just saying.. Murder and rape happen against people who have been born. Abortion doesn't. The same point applies, before a baby is born it is technically a parasite and why shouldn't someone be able to rid themselves of a parasite if they so choose?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess it all comes back to where the line is drawn... I believe that a baby is a baby from the time it is concieved.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And I believe that from a scientific standpoint, a baby is a parasite until born. But only in the purest sense of the word.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To clarify... If it is just a *part* of a human then I don't care.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm more on the pro why do strangers care so much about people they don't know? If I don't have an abortion, will the religious nuts raise the baby and pay for the pregnancy? No. because they don't really care about you, they care about being ask in your business and being high and mighty. I really don't care what the Bible tells YOU. I don't believe in it. And you only follow the rules when you want to anyway, so what makes you so goddamn special? Nothing. I thought the Bible preached tolerance and acceptance. What's so accepting about screaming at someone telling them they're going to hell because they've made a decision about their lives that won't affect you in anyway? Maybe god is in Heaven, telling you you'll go to hell for being so unchristian..

Pro-life isn't just religious nuts rambling. Last I checked there's nothing in the bible about abortion, and people who try to force their religion upon other people are desipicable. That being said, there has to be a set of moral and legal standards that we hold society to or there will be chaos. So yes it is pften necessary for someone to tell someone else what they can and can't do. As a libertarian, I believe that that should only be the case when another person is being harmed as a result of your actions. And should we let mothers who kill their children after they're born go free unless we're personally willing to have adopted that child? Your argument is just ridiculous. No one person can adopt all of the babies that need homes, but that doesn't make killing any more justifiable.

"...even if the fetus is a person, and so even if it has a right to life, nevertheless it does not have a right to the use of the mother's body, and so the mother may abort it..." I dig this philosophy.
