I used to think like that too. But then I discovered this things called mirrors where you can see yourself reflected in them. They're pretty awesome.
Some time after I discovered mirrors someone told me, can't remember who, that there are other surfaces, like glass, that reflect your image. I was suspicious at first but then I checked to see if it was true and it WAS.
