You plan to actually vote when you're of legal age, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
In Australia you get fined if you don't vote when you're of legal age.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I missed the last presidential election by 4 months... so I'm pretty stoked for this one!
by Anonymous12 years ago
I am of legal age and I haven't voted once. Good thing I don't live in Australia.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Ron Paul 2012.
by Anonymous12 years ago
(Stay Free my friends): if Ron Paul doesn't win then this country is almost certainly doomed.
by Anonymous12 years ago
He's not popular enough to win.
by Anonymous12 years ago
He's doing pretty well in the polls. The media tries to cover him up like he isn't a legitimate candidate, but he's got plenty of popularity on the internet. Cause he actually has an economic plan, one that isn't retarded (coughHermanCaincough) and he's anti-war and pro-legalization.
I'm definitely voting for him.
by Anonymous12 years ago
don't listen to everything the mainstream media tells you, he is getting more and more popular everyday. if you paid attention to his campaign you can really see that. and if he does get the Republican nomination the only way he can lose the presidency is if their are so many blind Obamatards voting that they take it, or if the media still continues it's Ron Paul blackout.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Absolutely not. Voting is a form of gambling.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I actually think not voting is more of a form of gambling. If you don't vote, youre leaving the fate of the country completely up to chance in the hands of idiots you don't know. If you vote, at least you have an influence.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Um, but you also don't want to gamble and let idiots who think voting is gambling vote. So it would be better for everyone if such people did not vote.
by Anonymous12 years ago
One vote is hardly an influence.
by Anonymous12 years ago
But if everybody thinks like that it makes a HUGE difference. People ages 18-25 are voting in record low numbers for several reasons, including thinking their votes don't matter.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Because your vote doesn't matter.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Oh yeah, apathy FTW!
by Anonymous12 years ago
You really think the election is going to come down to one vote and you're going to be the one to make a difference?
by Anonymous12 years ago
No.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Then how do you figure your vote is important? Things will be the same whether you vote or not.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Voting inspires others to vote.
by Anonymous12 years ago
What kinds of delusions of grandeur are you having? How many people do you really think idolize you?
by Anonymous12 years ago
When did I say that people idolize me? Say, hypothetically, I am of voting age and decide to vote. A few of my close friends might go with me, or think "he voted, so why shouldn't I?" Then their friends do the same. It's all about conformity and peer pressure.
by Anonymous12 years ago
You must have pretty stupid friends then.
by Anonymous12 years ago
How so? If they think that none of their friends are voting, they themselves are less likely to.
by Anonymous12 years ago
If they can't decide on whether or not they want to vote because they don't know whether their friends are voting, then their votes aren't worth anything in the first place.
by Anonymous12 years ago
How are their votes not worth anything? You're not making any sense.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Nothing ever came down to one vote.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not on a national level, no. But you're missing my point. Voting creates a chain reaction that encourages other to vote.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Do you really think people around you are inspired to vote because you do?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not inspired exactly, but encouraged. Especially if you verbally tell them that they should vote. Like I stated before, peer pressure is important. Many people when they first become old enough to vote are easily influenced by their friends. If all their friends are doing it, then they probably will, too.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Its a combined effect and the results do show. If there's a couple thousand or even a million people or something that think that their votes dont matter, then maybe each of their individual's didn't but it certainly had an impact. Don't be one of those people. An obvious example is that seniors always vote in surprisingly high numbers while youth who think their votes don't matter vote in very low numbers. As a result, our government is spending TRILLIONS on Medicare, Medicaid, social security, etc. which our generation gets to pay for once they're gone. You may think a single vote does not matter, but it's truly a ripple effect which has astonishing effects.
by Anonymous12 years ago
A single vote doesn't matter.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I missed being able to vote in the election last year by one day. At least I'll get to vote for the next president. Ron Paul FTW
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm doing the same thing. I might even register as a Republican so I can vote for Paul in the primary. Don't worry though, if Paul doesn't win the primary I'll most likely vote for Obama in the real election.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Oh no! Don't vote for Obama under any circumstances. As much as I can't stand some of the other candidates, any one of them is a better option than what we have now.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Obama seems like quite the opposite to Ron Paul in my opinion... Why would you vote for Obama and not Ron paul (he'll probably run independently)?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Because I like Ron Paul and anyone who is running against Bachman. I'm still not really sure about the other Republicans though. I'll know a lot more when they start campaigning seriously in 2012. I don't really like either major party so figuring out who to vote for is always a problem.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Theres tons of independent people! The point of voting is to vote for who you think is best, not who has a good chance of winning...
