+712 If life begins at conception, then Americans should be able to legally drink at 20 years and 3 months, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No because the legal drinking age is not "21 years after life begins" it's 21 years after your birthday, on your 21st birthday.

Actually, it's when you're 21 years old. We only take the birthday as the start of life because that's when we actually see the baby. If life begins at conception, then we will celebrate conceptionday or fertilisationday instead of birthday, thus the age will be 20 and 3 months.

Somethibg of that Ilk?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did you try to type a comment; or did you just smash your face into the keyboard?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The latter. A copied post doesn't deserve typing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What the hell were you trying to say in that first comment?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This post, I thought, was originally from a comic series called Something Of That Ilk.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Everything makes so much more sense now. I thought you typed random stuff.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And I thought everyone got worked up over a 'B's.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's a stretch, but I won't argue.

The drinking age is 21 because by then, the prefrontal cortex, more commonly known as the frontal lobe, is fully developed. That part of the brain is that part that (suprise!) makes decisions. The frontal lobe does not begin development as a fetus, therefore the drinking age is logically 21. I'm pretty sure my English teacher told me most of that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*BAM*...science...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Although, it's actually 25 when the frontal lobe finishes, not 21.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If 21 is "the logical drinking age", why does literally no country outside of the US enforce it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Tell your English teacher not to quit their day job.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Worst reasoning ever.

This argument again?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sorry, I just felt like a lame argument needed a lame meme response

I don't understand why this post is aboUt abortion. Could you explain for me?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pro life people often believe that life begins at conception, and that is one of the reasons you shouldn't abort fetuses. So you can easily take this post as mentioning pro-lifers as well as bringing up drinking age.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That explains the ad insert.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

inb4 this joke post turns into a mile long comment thread debating abortion.

Human gestation is actually 40 weeks give or take for normal variance. But it is generally 40 weeks. It's closer to 10 months. so 20 years and 2 months old. Either way...the reasoning is not sound even granting life beginning at conception. When the rule was made it accounted for age post exit of the mother's womb.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, it's not closer to 10 months. 40 weeks = 280 days, which is 76.7% of a year, which is barely over 9 months.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wrong. To be a person, you must wear a hat and own a bus. Source: http://amirite.net/90426

then im finna twerk t da club at 20 years and 3 months. now thats some frickin real talk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The concept of life beginning at conception is a religious idea, and according to most, religion has no place in laws and politics.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Called it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not a religious thing. I believe life begins at conception, and I'm not religious, and I'm not prolife either.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The American drinking age should be in your teens, like everywhere else in the world, but that's another post entirely.
