+253 It really sucks when you have an irrational fear, and everyone just thinks you're joking, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Murderers. Everyone laughs, like yeah duh. But really, I have bad suspicions about big vans. And nightmares.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh my god, YES. My needle phobia is not a joke. :/

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Pigeons.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I adore pigeons! Why do you fear them?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I get panic attacks when I'm sprayed with cold water. When I tell people this, they like to test it...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't take cold showers. Pools are still so I can cope with them, if I get in slowly.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Rainboots - yeah, that's pretty much how it is for me. But your cousin might be slightly different of course.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Spongebob in my opinion is the creepiest fuck in the world and I don't understand how people can watch the show.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Most spiders aren't poisonous.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Worms, rainy days are like hell for me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

=O rainy days how can you be scared of something so beautiful

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I like rainy days, just not the sidewalks during them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why the side walks

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I have a fear of getting old.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Arachnophobia, yaaay.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I used to be afraid of fake spiders. smirk

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Snails, slugs, people touching my Achilles heel, people grabbing my wrist, and being submerged in cold water.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Bees. I'm not allergic, but bees, wasps, and flying biting insects just scare the hell out of me!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Being underwater. I don't know what it is, but it kinda feels like I'm enclosed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

POTD anybody?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I have an irrationally fear of POTD too!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The typical moaning noises zombies make. Not the zombies themselves, just the noises. I'm getting better with it, but I still get anxiety spikes during things like Minecraft when I hear one.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Almonds... The taste/smell of almonds makes me cry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Seriously, fuck everything about people who don't take other's irrational fears seriously.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm afraid of lying flat on my back.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How come?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It limits what I can see and stretching my neck like that makes me think someone's going to slit it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I understand this. When I was little I thought if I fell asleep on my back I would become a mummy and die. Still get weird dreams about it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've heard that when you fall asleep on your back you're more likely to have bad dreams. I'm pretty sure it's something about feeling vulnerable.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When something touches me unexpectedly (especially if I have my eyes closed). My lower back starts to tingle and my legs kick the shit out of anything around me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When people pick me up. Even if they lift me like a millimeter off the ground I flip my shit... Probably because I flew down a flight of stairs when I was young due to a caught blanket and not being buckled in my carrier... Thanks mom. 👍

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But honestly, there are some fears that are just so irrational that they become funny. I remember meeting a person who was afraid of chickens. Chickens, man. I mean I'd be afraid to touch a chicken what with all the ticks or diseases they might have, but I don't become afraid of pictures of them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No one picks what they're afraid of. Some people had horrible incidents that happened to them when they were younger which scarred them emotionally. Some people witnessed terrible things which caused their brain to react a certain way with certain things. It aggravates me when people make fun of someone just because they're afraid of something that most people aren't afraid of, no matter how "stupid" that fear may seem. They don't what to be afraid of that thing and they can't control the way they react.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I realize that, but sometimes it's just so out there that you also can't help to find it funny. I always ask when someone tells me a fear that's just way too out there. "What happened?" Most of the time, it's just a barely dangerous incident that happened when they were a kid. Like...god, what was the chicken one? I think he went to a petting zoo or something and it pecked him? I can't even remember. When you have a fear that's ridiculously irrational, you have to try your best to get over it. When you can laugh at your own fears, they don't become as scary as you'd think. Well, they're still scary, but it's nice to laugh it off. It doesn't become //as// scary. I think that's why people laugh after they jump during a scary movie, otherwise you'll become too scared for your own good.

You are 100% true.

Giggle at the ghosties.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Rattly elevators and down escalators. My friends think it's funny to jump around or fake push me down.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oooh I understand the elevator one. I've been in several hotels where I've had to take the stairs up about seven floors because the elevator would shake like crazy and drop a few feet right before letting you out.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Riding in the backseat of cars. I have panic attacks.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Black people

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How come?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Thanks for being honest?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Chewbanshee may have an actual fear of dark skinned people, I just wonder why.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Missawesomeness cause they're just really scary. You're very welcome anon

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm black myself so I just wanted to know. They media just portray us as menacing people so I sort of understand.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, you mug leople and dwell in gangs. Its scary

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Just realized you're black... I'm an idiot.

Dying. :/ I can never tolerate the fact that one day my life will end and I will cease to exist; what if I die a painful death? What if I die young, and by young I mean in my 50s; or even before? How is life really after death? I never actually thought about the matter as deep as I just did right now because I just really don't like thinking about it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Fear of death is a very common fear. I don't think you have much to worry about. Just...well, don't die.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah I guess it is. And I don't exactly worry about it. Also my death isn't the only thing I fear, it's also the death of a loved one; and I know that everyone is afraid of that as well.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Many fears are linked to fear of death. It's just a natural fear, and for a very good reason. I wouldn't say all fears are irrational, but most are. Fear of death isn't irrational at all, so long as you don't obsess over it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh I never obsess over it, I think this is the first time I even talk about it! And yeah I know a lot of fears are related to death, like fear of heights or darkness.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Whenever I see a snake on tv, real life, or even a fake little toy plastic snake, I start feeling like they're slithering all over me and I start crying/having a panic attack. It takes hours for me to stop.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The Oompa loompas from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Frogs. Especially poison dart frogs. Which makes no sense because I live in New York but they still scare the crap out of me. My friends find it very amusing...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Cockroaches. People don't understand. Even if they're dead. If I see one or even just thinking or talking about them makes me start to cry. Even writing this. I'm freaking out.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Vampires. Not like the Twilight vampires, the vampires from old movies. Sometimes I'll even just see a picture of one and I get terrified and I have to turn all the lights on. I know they're not real, but still I have to sleep with my neck covered by a blanket because I get scared.
