Therapeutic or reproductive cloning? I don't believe in reproductive cloning in any species, but other than that it's not too bad. For example I think it's wrong because of all the health problems Dolly the sheep had.

She only had a lung disease and arthritis. Other mammals have been cloned after the success of hers and I don't believe anything bad happened to them. And she even had 6 successful lambs. It was one clone and it happened to have a lung disease and arthritis, just as a baby might have Downs or be blind in one eye. Shit happens. And that's one example, so I wouldn't let that fray your opinion.

There's also the religious issues with cloning. Many people believe that it's playing God etc. That only God should have that kind of power. In general though, it's mainly human cloning that I'm against, although I think that there are some big issues with animal cloning. And thats not even getting into the morals of other types of cloning.

Why are you against human cloning?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it would devalue human life. People would probably treat the clone differently from the original individual. It would probably have a horrible life knowing it's not unique, and just a copy of someone else.

You don't understand cloning, you are the kind of person I am talking about

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually I studied cloning as part of my course in college. I'm talking about being against reproductively cloning humans. Why do I not understand cloning? Just because my opinion is different from your opinion?

Have you ever heard of identical twins? They are clones of one another. People often say things like "he's the spitting image of his father". It would simply be slightly more pronounced in a clone. Why should that make him/her be treated any different? They would have a different personality.

Well if you are pro abortion then i dont see any reason for you too be against cloning...just sayin

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm sorry, it's late at night and I don't follow, could you explain that?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

cloning involves inserting DNA/blastocyst by terminating potential life. Abortion involves simply terminating life/potential life

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't mean cloning people just for the heck of it, especialy since it's a relatively new technology. I just mean the concept of cloning people/animals.

Somewhere they've managed to clone meat! But they aren't allowed to eat it because it's made in a lab. :( And that was something that could have reduced world hunger and saved the environment at the same time

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They have managed to grow meat in a lab and I think they're working on doing it economically. So it could still reduce world hunger (though right now a lab grown hamburger costs about $30,000)
