+193 If your mom wants you to do something, it's your house too. If she doesn't want you to do something it's because it's 'her' house, amirite?

My school is even worse than that. they have a sign around the canteen/tuckshop/whatever you call it (we call is the Student Activityu Centre or SAC) It's //**__YOUR__**// SAC //**__YOUR__**// school //**__YOUR__**// responsibility to keep it clean 1. We pay school fees, which by the way are pretty high, to YOU to pay teachers and custodians. A lot of the pay comes from the government, but you're not the government either. 2. If it's my school, why are students the lowest ranking in the hierarchy? I'm not saying we shouldn't keep the place clean and ease the custodians' lives, but this sort of thing which implies that it's my job pisses me off because it's not my job, and making being a good person my negatively paid job is just assholish.

Your job is to go to school and get a good education. Not go to school and work for free.

Yeah. I go to learn. They are making it my job to keep everything clean, too. It's reasonable to ask me to, and i do, but not to make it my responsibility.

I can see helping to clean the classroom up a bit, but not the whole school. That is exactly the reason why they have janitors.

Exactly. We do have cleaning as punishments, which are fine because we deserve retribution for whatever we did, but it still shouldn't be our regular, jobs.
