You see, everyone thumbed this comment down, but it's exactly the same concept as this post which everyone seemed to agree with. Even though the evidence that smoking is pointless and can cause all kinds of terrible things to happen to you is there, we continue to do it. Even though there is all kinds of evidence contradicting the theory that god exists and that believing in him has caused much pain and torment throughout history and will continue to do so, we continue to believe in him. Someone tell me why the first one makes sense but the second one doesn't?

Haha, that's true. We should give as much, if not more, respect to that scenario than the concept of a God. After all, it is scientifically more likely. Perhaps I'll become an Unicornian. Christianity is the result of Agathor attempting mankind to sin and disregard the Unicornian faith.

There is no evidence to disprove God. God means many different things to many different people. Even if you could disprove one person's idea of God or disprove one specific religious myth, you couldn't disprove every single one. You see, for many people, God is something abstract and philosophical, so it couldn't possibly be proved or disproved with objects in the material world. You couldn't disprove God anymore than you could disprove transcendentalism. God can be a philosophy or way of seeing things; not a testable scientific hypothesis. The role religion has played in society and politics is complicated. Of course, religion has caused wars, bloodshed, and countless tragedies but it's not as simple as that. Religious philosophies have also united people with a common identity in a way that encourages the growth of civilization. Also, religious organizations have a history of providing important humanitarian aide and leading beneficial social movements. Saying "religion is evil" or "religion is good" is really pretty stupid because it always depends on the context.

I think people that start smoking don't understand the dangers of it and start young. It's all about that first one. You take that in a moment where your mind isn't clear and you could become addicted.
