You never know if there is a person crossing the road. They can think the same thing "oh the light is red yet there are no cars, so I'll just cross over," so always watch out for pedestrians.

Even if it's perfectly safe and there are no physical consequences, it's still morally wrong. You're still not following the rules of the road. Besides, you can't count for all of the variables... there could be a person or an animal.

Ya there could be a person but I think the animal would ignore the light and be there no matter what color the light is.
