Hm, touché. Yes, the rivers of blood are equally minuscule, but they are unjustifiably spilt. I think Sagan's point is that no matter how powerful we become on a global scale, we are completely inconsequential on the universal scale. So instead of trying to attain imagined self-importance by mistreating one another, humanity should be humble and work together to improve quality of life. In the face of meaninglessness, that's all we can do, really.
