+198 You watched a 30 minute video on KONY, and now you're a social activist, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And thank god I did, because I didn't even know I was supposed to care about third world countries until the internet told me to!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Normally I don't give half a fuck about politics, but the internet seems to really hate this one guy! GO POLITICS!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thank god I saw this on memebase first, otherwise I thought it would've been funny!

I think about it this way: at least people are tweeting/posting/blogging about something that matters and might help others, rather than how insanely hot Zac Effron has been looking lately.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

we could post about that too

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Zac Efron's insane sexiness matters too.

It's great that people are supporting Kony's arrest but we should all have been at least somewhat politically active prior to the Internet telling you to. While we work to make Kony famous why don't you look for some other causes you support too? I would hate to see this political activist spirt die.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

just heard it's corrupt and only gives 30% of the donations to helping the actual cause.....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's what invisible children does. These donations are supposed to go to TRI

It also gives money to the Ugandan military... which is pretty notorious for doing a lot of raping and looting themselves. Militaries in dictatorships tend to be like that. All in all, while raising awareness will definitely get things done (no secret that causes with a lot of publicity get results from MPs/senators looking for support come election), I wouldn't advisie giving the charity money...

I watched the video and I think he should be stopped but i'm not gonna go and protest or anything like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If people got more sources than that one video I'd have less of a problem with it...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I watched the video, I don't think you did. If you did you didn't get the message. When I watched, I didn't take from it that we all need to go out and protest and donate money to stop this guy. The whole point of the video is getting the word out. So if you tell a friend, or tweet #Kony you're helping. The video is a social experiment of the internet's power. Can we make this video go viral and spread the word to show congress that the special unit deployed to Uganda to stop Joseph Kony (ONE person committing these crimes) needs to finish their mission? That's the point. We can't just tweet about starving kids in Africa, that would take actual donations or you going over to the country to help because it's a wide spread problem. Basically, if they kill Kony, they save all these children and stop him from abducting, killing and forcing children into war and prostitution.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You clearly didn't get the point either considering THE VIDEO CLEARLY STATES HE IS NO LONGER IN UGANDA.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly! Which makes it even harder to find him, which is why the unit deployed may be coming back and the mission will be canceled.
