my parents protect ants a lot too. I feel you :/

Nope. My parents are pretty awesome. They know I'm not going to do irresponsible things like slack off on my schoolwork, get drunk, have unprotected sex or experiment with drugs, so they basically just let me do what I want. It's a mutual trust/respect situation. Overprotective parents are doing much more harm than good. Their kids are going to be more likely to rebel and they're going to struggle with being independent as adults.

My mom just started letting me have my phone with me when I go to bed, finnaly quit giving me random drug tests, and started letting me stay the night at friend's houses, but she has to talk to their parents first, and have their cell and house phone numbers and address. Still not allowed to go to concerts though. ll be 18 this summer.

Your parents sound exactly like mine about sleeping over, except mine have to know the person and their parents for at least a year, and call me periodically through the night.

My mom doesn't have to.know them for a year, but she does have to know them and like them, and she calls through the night. Usually on the house phone so she knows I'm actually there and I have to call her if were gonna go to the corner store, out to eat, etc. One of these days, when I'm closer to 18, I'm going to answer steaming drunk, just cuz.
