Just walking it off doesn't quite work when you twist an ankle, amirite?

That's so weird. I consider a twisted ankle one of those few injuries that that phrase actually applies to. Unlike a broken ankle where the damage I'd done and it's impossible to shake off, for just an ankle roll or twist many start to put increasing weight on it and literally "walk it off" to increase blood flow and dull the pain receptors. It's also one of the few injuries that won't get worse just by walking on it because the only way to increase damage is re-twist or re-roll it. Interesting
