+255 Applying for college seems like a scam, you pay $50 to take the sat, act, A.P. test which judge you on your scholarly merit, than you pay to send colleges your scores, but oh my those scores you just payed $50 for were so indecisive, so send in your transcripts and application, $50, and write an essay of praise to your college telling them how unworthy you are to be in their presence, and how pretty they are. Congrats, they may now accurately judge your worthiness. WTF, amirite?

And those $50 estimates are actually cheap (AP Tests are $87, most applications are $60-70). But hey, I'll take it at the chance for a six-digit scholarship

And your net-worthiness. Yeah, I'm not funny.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Really? No one commented on how they said than instead of then while talking about college? I'm surprised

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm going to comment on how you should have said he, or she, in your post seeing as how multiple people can't post the same single post so the "they" to which you speak is incorrectly used.

And it doesn't end there. Once you get in, you pay thousands and thousands of dollars each year to get a degree that doesn't guarantee a job upon graduation. There's all kinds of fees that are added onto your tuition that change all the time and pay for things that you might not even use. To top it all off, schools feel the need to increase said tuition EVERY year. Mine is going up 15% in the fall.

Also, just as an FYI, you might not want to talk about your 'unworthiness' in your essay. That's likely to not get you accepted. If you tell them your unworthy, they'll go 'ok' and throw you application in the garbage. I remember my mom's advice to me while applying to colleges. "Don't be humble. Talk yourself up as much as possible."

They want to hear how great you think they are, and how while your a fantastic student, but even you are humbled at the sheer majesty, dazzling brilliance, and the overwhelming splendor that their college puts forth. (this is literally what they want to hear as at least one of the essay questions will be framed so that you can conveniently mention why you want to go there, brown nosing, and why you are exceptional but humbled in the face of their glory.)

And you still might not get in. Why? Because of budget cuts.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

no, its because of terrorism.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yea. The USA spends way too much money terrorizing other countries.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey, we prefer the term "saving"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's all bullshit and ypu know it. USA goes all around the world inperializing other nations. We kept soldiers in the middle East to make sure they don't terrorize us. Who are the real terrorists?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think you misread the post.

Then you get to spend thousands of dollars on tuition, fees, and books and work your ass off until you drag yourself, the shell of a human being you have become, to the end of college where you then have to pay a fee to graduate.

Well at least if you get into Cornell they send you a free t-shirt, so it's all okay in the end.
