It wasn't the point. it introduced the deadliness of the berries. Foxface was just a convenient way to do that, and she had to dies somehow.

My theory is that she killed herself. She was the smartest one out of all of them, there's no way that she didn't know that they were poisonous.

Why would she do that rather than wait for Cato and Katniss and Peeta to kill each other at the end?

She would know that they would flush her out. There has to be a big fight, she can't just stay in hiding, they'd never allow it. She was small and would never stand a chance against Cato. The berries would be quick and painless compared to the agony that Cato and/or the Gamemakers would bring her.

Or maybe she knew the gamemakers would eventually try to make Katniss and Peeta kill each other. Nobody wants to be around when that shit goes down.

I kind of agree with this. Like it's definitely a possibility, that she knew she would never beat the others and just wanted as quick and painless a death as possible.

I've heard this theory too; in the movie when everyone is training and practicing, there is a scene where she is kicking butt at a plant knowledge matching thing. One would assume she had extensive knowledge about plants.

Yeah I originally thought so too but it fits in well with this theory. Plus, a training exercise for the Hunger Games would most likely be one that tests one's knowledge of plants, not a simple memory game.
