+74 Guys: don't break up with your girlfriend through text message. It makes her feel even more shitty, amirite?

I agree with the first part, but not for the same reason. My reason is out of respect, especially in a long term relationship. I like to see the face of the person breaking up with me to know if they're telling the truth about the reason, if they're sad, etc.

I didn't know that only guys did this...

I think it's more important to do it in person, or at least over the phone, so that they know a "friend" hasn't stolen the phone.

I'd prefer to be broken up with that way unless it was super, super serious. Not like 6 months kind of serious, like years. I have a thing about not crying in front of people.

I'd like to know something: Is it okay if you break up at the end of an argument over text? Or do you have to call or fix a time to meet up so you can do it in person?

as long as they tell you period. I've had a guy that didn't tell me, and just told me by changing his facebook status. As long as you don't do that, you're probably not shit

I've had that happen to me too, only he switched it and changed his profile picture to him kissing some random girl. Oh well, we don't need to be with people like that anyway. Although to go with the original post, I have to agree. No one, including girls, should break up with anyone via text message. I've never been broken up with in person, and I don't know if it'd be better that way. I just know it felt really crappy through text, especially since they didn't even try to face me. At least show some effort. Plus the other person can't tell everyone what a piece of crap you are for doing it through text message.

exactly! it feels disrespecting, and completely humiliating. I don't know why, but I don't think most of my friends really got how terrible it feels. But, that picture is way worse. Yeah, we deffinately don't need people like that in our lives. I also agree with op, now that I really truly think about it.

At least do it over the phone.

Or Skype at the very least.
