+197 There is no decade where the music is terrible in general, amirite?

It's so annoying when people say that this decade has the worst music and then list the current worst musicians, as though no decade before ours has had a single bad popular artist.

I think this last decade is different in that auto tune killed musical talent and turned mainstream music into a beauty contest.

Back in the 60s and 70s many musicians started using computer programmes instead of instruments. Around the 80s and 90s a lot of incredibly popular music was just people talking rhythmically over a melody that was borrowed from another song. In the 90s especially they altered their voices with computer effects to better fit with the style of the song. Talent or not, music can still sound good, and any given decade isn't to blame for bad or talentless music, bad and talentless musicians are, and those have existed for as long as music has existed.

I agree and understand. It's just become worse in a lot of ways in recent years. With artists like Skrillex who gets paid thousands of dollars per night to press play on his MacBook pro and then press stop at the end. If the 80's and 90's brought about talentless computer created music then the last decade perfected it

I agree that Dubstep is a horrific music genre, but there were terrible musicians in the other decades too, ones who had an immense number of fans at the time, but for the most part they have since been forgotten about.

I don't find it annoying anymore, I use it as a sign that the person has no idea what they're talking about and to not pay much attention to them

It's also interesting when people talk about how good music once was, considering that, in all likelihood, we've only bothered to preserve the good music from previous eras.

This. This every day of the week. There are lots of good bands/musicians nowadays, many who are actually quite popular, and all people can focus on is the crap.

The 1890's were terrible IMO
