+64 If a time machine was ever invented, it would be very, very strictly regulated: If one was able to affect the past, no one would be allowed to use it unless they have high credentials and permissions that are hard to obtain and it would be very rare to use. If you can only see the past, you would need similar qualifications and the time/place would be regulated so as to not revel top secret information. amirite?

I feel like it's possible for more than one person to invent a time machine, maybe at the same time. . so then there'd just be a time war. Imagine that.

If time machines allowed us to go to the past, we would have no controls of our actions while there. We would simply be watching. That's the only way it could work without destroying itself due to things that have already happened.
