+110 Across the Universe is a brilliant film, not only for the Beatles songs it uses, but for the way it uses them, amirite?

YES! And the choreography was absolutely incredible. Along with the special effects. And the fact that all of the characters had Beatles related names. (Jude, Lucy, Max(well's Silver Hammer), (Sexy) Sadie, Jo-Jo (from Get Back), (Dear) Prudence. <[Who by the way was a lesbian in the film and was in a closet at the start of Dear Prudence.] Doctor Robert. And obviously there are more names and metaphors that were incredible this just named a quick few. OH! and How Sadie looked and sounded like Janis Joplin and Jo-Jo was Jimi Hendrix. Bloody brilliant!

I loved the Jojo/Jimi Hendrix thing! Especially when she's putting the scarf on his head and he's like "what is this?" and I'm like "oh stop it you"

One of the better films out there. I enjoyed it on the big screen and still do from time to time on my little screen.

It was a decent movie, but I wouldn't say that the way it used the songs was "brilliant". It kind of seemed like Julie Taymor looked for the most literal way to interpret the lyrics, and then made it a little more literal

Really? She So Heavy was phenomenal. I never once thought of the song like that until the movie.

I mean I liked the film and I thought that the covers were good and certainly some of the interpretations were unique, but I feel like because the songs it used were pre-written, they had to build the plot around the songs, which led to more than a few very obvious interpretations a la "Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite", "Hey Jude", "Dear Prudence", etc. I didn't think they added much to the film, and they added almost nothing to the songs.

I liked it, but i don't think it was phenomenal. Maybe it's because I'm a big fan of the Beatles, but I thought they could have done a lot more than what they did with it. I do enjoy it though.
