+335 It's annoying when people say that homophobes only hate gays because they're secretly gay themselves. The vast majority of homophobes hate gays because of either their religious beliefs or because they look upon gay sex with disgust. If someone fears Muslims, everyone knows it's because Muslims are stereotyped to be extremists. No one suspects that they fear Muslims because they secretly worship Allah and they fear being near a fellow Muslim will somehow surface their religious beliefs, amirite?

Not all Muslims worship Allah ono

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What...? Pretty sure you have to believe in Allah to be Islamic, bro...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's like saying Not all Christians worship God...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his prophet."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I totally get what you're saying here, and I don't think every homophone is secretly gay, but I don't really think you can compare the two like that. Some Muslims (the extremist terrorists) are actually legitimately dangerous. There isn't a group of gay people that are just going to go blow up a building and kill people. Some Muslim extremists do. I'm not saying it's okay to hate a whole group of people like some people hate Muslims. But I don't think the two are really comparable in that aspect.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Alright, let's say there's a Christian that doesn't want to be around atheists. That Christian would fear atheists because he's an unintelligent asshole that thinks atheists lack morals, not because he secretly didn't believe in God.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What is...?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

... What about my comment?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

... So, you don't even know what's ignorant about it?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

no...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not sure how you could specify it without sounding like an idiot. There's nothing ignorant about my comment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Alright, bro. It never reached an argument because each of the multiple times I asked you to explain your unsupported claim, you came up with some vague comment in an effort to not have to explain whatever bullshit reasoning you have.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Remember, kids, the cure for ignorance is pointing it out and refusing to correct it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He wasn't labeling all Christians. He was labeling Christians who fear atheists. Bitter, perhaps, but not ignorant.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I didn't realize Christians that fear atheists because of their lack of absolute morals were a large group of people. I was actually giving Christians the benefit of the doubt and assuming that group is a small minority. And I'll use whatever harsh labels I want against them; it's not ignorant to rightfully point out the brainless fucks.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Bro, did you read just my comment? You seem to have ignored everything I said, namely that I wasn't labeling all Christians. And I wanted to continue the conversation until you said something that wasn't vague bullshit, which was two of your comments ago.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your comment is ignorant and offends me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

All of it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're wasting my time. I'm done.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Now I changed my mind. I'm now going to present a clever, sarcastic image: y

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Since I'm now getting a lot of thumbs downs, I'm going to explain my perfect, well thought out reasoning: In your comment, you're clearly passing massive judgement against black people. I don't think it's right to say "vague;" that's racist.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why the fuck couldn't you understand that based on my first comment where I told you I was offended?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Bitch, you just wasted like all my time I could have spent masturbating to 2 Girls 1 Cup...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

2 Girls 1 Cup?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Lol bro, way to block me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Remember kids. Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But if you lose (*cough* boxtop *cough*), you're a loser on top of that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Mmm I dunno, all I'm saying is my dad was a huge homophobe and then he came out... /kidding. About all homophobes being gay, I mean. The dad thing was true.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Fun fact of the day: 'allah' simply means god in Arabic.. It doesn't mean a Muslim specific God.. In fact all the abrahamic religions (Christians, Muslims, Jews) believe in the same basic god, their differences lie in that they all have some different fundamental beliefs and values ( though they're pretty similar) and different beliefs about HOW God came to be as well as the prophets. Tldr; Allah means god in Arabic despite what religion you are referring too. Stop encouraging misconceptions.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know Allah means God, but the connotation of "Allah" is the Muslim God...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No, it isn't. Allah is an Arabic word; it means 'God' in that language. It's a language-specific word, not religion-specific. For instance, the word is found in Christian scriptures, and Christianity was founded before Islam. It's actually a word used in all three of the Abrahamic religion's texts because all three originate from the Middle East (where they speak Arabic). Most people connect it with Islam because Muslims are required to be able to read Arabic (so as to read the Quran in it's original text), so it's commonly associated with them. It is not a Muslim word however.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're bitching about my use of the word "Allah," yet it seems you don't know what "connotation" means.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm 'bitching' as you so eloquently put it it because your use of 'connotation' is irrelevant if it's wrong. "No one suspects that they fear Muslims because they secretly worship Allah" literally translates into "No one suspects that they fear Muslims because they secretly worship God".. there is no 'Muslim God' and 'Jewish God'.. they're all the same God. This weakens your analogy since it doesn't make sense.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It does make sense if you factor in the connotation.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

@CherryBlossom Some Muslims have killed innocent civilians because they feel they are justified. It does not make them right and it should not be something that represents the religion. @YeahIAm I genuinely don't know how to explain myself any more clearly.. so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

There was one study that found that homophobes were more likely than regular heterosexual men to become erect while watching gay porn, but the researchers ascribed this to their anxiety, not actual sexual arousal. Therein lies the misconception that homophobes are all closeted gays.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well it is true sometimes. Some closeted gays act more awkward around other gays because they want to seem straight but it's still awkward. I know a guy like this and everyone thinks he's homophobic, but he's just uncomfortable with himself. This probably isn't that common, but still it is possible.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I bet the KKK members are secretly black too.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"Is that.... Watermelon?!"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This post is just wrong on so many levels I can't even begin to explain it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you can't even begin to explain it, maybe it's not so wrong after all.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Then why the fuck did you waste precious Amirite space with your comment?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That might come from the several anti-gay politicians who turned out to be gay.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This post contains some of the most pointless arguments I have ever read.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You'd be surprised at the amount of homophobic gays.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I have met many gays who were homophobic before they came out of the closet and even after. This is because they have internalized society's negative views of gays and by acting homophobic they are distancing themselves from the larger gay community and preventing themselves from being identified as gay. It's also because they hate themselves for being gay and are outwardly expressing that hate towards other gays. So while being secretly gay is definitely not the only possibility, it is one of the big ones.
