+438 You know there's physics behind it, but it's still incredible how airplanes can fly even though they're super heavy, amirite?

Airplanes are phenomenal!

What about a helicopter? You know if you hang on the rotor, when it's not spinning, you can break it? And that's the only thing holding up the whole thing... connected by one mast!

Or the fact the whole idea of wind and lift is a theory.

So wind doesnt exist?

It has nothing to do with wind's existence. I think I may have said the wrong name, but it's the theory on how planes can fly.

Bernoulli Principle. The faster a fluid moves, the lower its pressure. The upper camber (surface) of a wing is curved more than the lower camber, forcing the air above the wing to move faster and fill the vacuum that would have been created in front of it if it didn't. This pulls the wing upwards, along with the aircraft.

Once you understand the physics behind it, it doesn't seem incredible at all; it's just another aspect of science. Just like something like magnetic levitation: incredulous at first, then ordinary once you learn about it.

It's still pretty amazing how those relatively tiny wings can hold up such a big plane. And how they don't fly upward leaving the fuselage on the ground during takeoff. The strength of the wings is what's amazing.
