+307 Why do we call it Obamacare? President Obama is not going to come to your house and treat you every time you are sick. We're not injecting people with Obama or giving them Obama pills either. The bill is about caring for people's health; we should refer to it as Healthcare because that's just what it is. The term Obamacare was simply coined to make Healthcare sound scarier and more sketchy, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I never understood it; nobody calls Canada's healthcare "DouglasCare", they just accepted it for what it was. Although it doesn't really seem like a big issue if people are intent on calling it Obamacare..

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Dude, what is the full name of canada's leader? I know I sound stupid as fuck, but I realized I don't know jack shit about canada. Is it a prime minister? I'm american don't hate.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Our leader varies from time to time. We just choose the moose with the strongest antlers.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What's the difference between a conservative and a liberal in canada? Similar to the US?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Similar, they believe in smaller governemnt when it comes to finances and they are more supportive of businesses and corporations. They also tend to have a more traditional view on social aspects. However, most Conservatives in Canada would be considered centered, or Liberal in the US since Cnada's political spectrum is more Liberal.

Thank you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

also unlike America there are numerous political parties - the Conservatives, Liberals and the NDP are the main 3, then there's the Bloc Quebecois (bloc party heh), the Green Party...anyone can make a party.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Boobies Care!!!!!!!!!!!! Anonymous=write whatever the hell you want. P.s. LET'S PASS THIS BILL SO WE CAN SEE WHAT'S INSIDE!! Sound fimiliaršŸ˜ ?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Technically WarrenWoodford, there are numerous parties in the USA such as the Green Party but the media tends to show Democrats and Republicans the most. I guess it is because the last president we had that was not in either party was Milliard Filmore I believe, a member of the Whig party and since then it was Democrats or Republicans then radio was introduced[not sure if radios are the earliest forms of media that could lead to the two parties becoming so huge that all other parties become small and irrelevant to the media.]

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Its actually called the "patient protection and affordable care act". Informally refered to as obamacare.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

obamacare makes it sound more sketchy? why? because he's black? because i'm sure a group of fox news members held a meeting and were like, "Hey. Obama released this health care bill. What should we call it so that our viewers think it's really sketchy or something?" "How bout Obamacare?" "Jimmy, my boy! You're fuckin golden! That'll make Barack seem like some scary maniac who's running around the streets givin people pills and injecting them with some crazy shit!" "HA! IKR?!? Good thing we're not calling it HealthCare, that'll make it seem like he actually cares about people's health!" ono probably because it's the only thing that has really defined obama's presidency and it's what he is known for, so people call it Obamacare , as in Obama's Health Care.

@Ieatfireflies I don't get it

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Personally I don't get why everybody's butthurt over free health care. Anybody of you seen Michael Moores "SiCKO"? Now that's some scary shit right there. Everybody has the right to a good health, be it poor or rich!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Because health care is already free, you're not gonna get denied because you don't have insurance, you'll always be treated for *life-threatening* conditions, people just don't wanna pay for everyone else to go to the hospital, and why should they?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's pretty much how we live here in Denmark, and last time I checked, nobody here was complaining!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

what the fucks a denmark

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What is necessary for your continued health isn't always deemed life-threatening. It's better to have health care

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I swing left. I mean WAAYYYYY Left. But if you're basing your opinions off a Michael Moore film you may want to reconsider everything you thought you knew. Personally I'm for Universal Health Care. But Michael Moore spins his films like a dradle. Also "Obamacare" isn't free healthcare.

Last time I checked AMERICA IS BROKE! Who actually is paying for your little free healthcare bill which by the way was forced to be passed before Christmas?! Obama has added 1 TRILLION DOLLARS TO THE DEBT! Why didn't he just give every American 1 million dollars instead of making Abortion practically free?? Watch your news people and not that liberal ass Obama loving news channels! I don't care what color the president is I care about America and my children. Who wants their children to live in messed up country!?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Are you serious? It's a country :|

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's a small country , but a really happy one!!! Want me to tell you what a planet is?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

wtf i clearly explained in my bio that i didnt like politics. why did u post this

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your a strange individual

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's called Obamacare because republicans are initially against it so they want it to fail and still be connected to Obama

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ikr!!!! This website is full of left wing liberals!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Okay the term Obamacare is not sketchy or scary at all.. People are just booty hurt for some reason. No one is looking down on it because of its name. The people who dont like it have other reasons not to like it, besides it's name.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

...I'm sorry, did you say "booty hurt"?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No he said BOOBY hurt. Can you read!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hahaha yes I did. I'm laughing so hard at this because it probably sounds really weird to you but where I'm from everybody says it. Sorry about that!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No it's fine, I've just never heard it said that way! It's always usually "butt-hurt"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I am all for universal healthcare and respecting the president. I just feel like some republican politicians use it as a derogatory term just because it has the president's name on it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I kinda want your definition of ObamaCare... especially if Bo comes too.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When I see "Obamacare" written with no spaces and a lower case C, it somehow looks like "massacre" to me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Healthcare is every person's right, and working is everyone's responsibility. The working taxpayers shouldn't have to burden the uninsured and unemployed for healthcare. Personally I think that healthcare should only be offered to families who are making SOME income or effort to support themselves, but current costs are unaffordable to most people. In short, healthcare must be heavily subsidized by the government (which is part of Obamacare) and to be eligible people must meet employment or circumstantial requirements. Also, America needs to become less sue happy and over-cautious, because doctors are spending tons of OUR money with wasteful procedures, because they are afraid that someone will sue them for not covering all the bases Just to mention, if I sound stupid or idealistic I am not a political scientist, so please forgive me

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your last statement is incorrect. It was coined by someone pro-"Obamacare" a LexisNexis search of all news media shows that Wayne Madsen of the Progressive Online Journal was the first to use the phrase "Obamacare" in a pro-Obamacare article titled Obama's well-crafted plan offers Americans full coverage without emptying the Treasury, on April 4, 2008 in the Salt Lake Tribune. Here's the money quote: "Obama's national health insurance program, let's call it "ObamaCare," provides Americans with affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles." If there is an earlier reference to the term, it doesn't show up on the LexisNexis search.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Are we really denouncing a bill because of its fucking name? Leave it to the USA to get the most superficial in times when it's completely unnecessary. God, I want to move to fucking Canada.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Please do move then. Or run for the presidency and change something. Stop complaining.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I really think it's funny when people say "Y DONT U MOVE THEN" or "CHANGE IT THEN RETARDD" because it just shows so clearly that they have no idea what they're talking about. 1. Hey, I'm 17. Remember when 17 year olds could move on their own to a different country? Haha, good times. 2. Wow okay. So everyone complaining about politics in the world should just run for president? That's your solution? Point is, complaining normally means there's a problem. The problem with the USA is that the people here are awfully stupid, and the only ones making it run are normally corrupt.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wouldn't say they are corrupt. They don't go into office thinking, "Hey, let's persuade people to do shit so I can make money." They have visions, they have ideas, but they get too busy politicking because that's the way the system works. They have to campaign every 2 or 6 years and of they don't do what people want, they'll get fired. If they don't do what lobbiers want, they won't get money or support. But if they don't do what their party wants, they'll get shunned. Their own voice gets kind of lost in the process.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sir dicks a lot this website is amazing I mean look at y'all battle of the left Wong retards and right wing conservative. You all probably did get of this website to go fuckkng vote but if your going vote don't just listen to the well thought out one word slogan "change".

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Turns a strictly social issue into a party-political one. Good post.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I mean, the name "Obamacare" turns a strictly social issue into a party-political one - just making that clear

Protip: You can edit your comment.

thanks for the reminder!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Kiss ass right above this post

by Anonymous 11 years ago

???

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hahaha "we're not injecting people with Obama"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But Sarah Palin told me its Orwellion (because I'm sure thats what George Orwell was trying to warn us about. That oppresive, horrible free healthcare), has death panels and promotes communism. While that ended up happening in no country on the planet, if I can't trust her who can I trust?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, It is right of you to fear the name "obama" and to hear the name for healthcare be called "obamacare" should scare you, that is its job. :D

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I could have sworn the term was originally coined by republicans who actually used it in a derogatory manner. But I honestly have no fucking idea where I saw that so I have absolutely no evidence to back my claim. So... yeah.
