+205 Water is an art in its own way, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Water is just as much an art as sex is. It isn't.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're doing it wrong.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Was that supposed to be a pun?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Can someone elaborate? Honestly this seems like it should be a really cool post but I just don't see what you mean.

Maybe OP is referring to water's unique physical traits. In my opinion, it's just a hydrogen and oxygen compound.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In your opinion? lolwut

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Let me rephrase that, my view of water is that it's just hydrogen and oxygen and not art.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Lol

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's really insightful.

?

Essentially its the movement and relative simplicity combined with its abundance and necessity

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Depends on your definition of art, really.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How? Water is as much of an art as a rock. Or a paintbrush... a waterfall or something COULD be viewed as art, but the utensil? If you will, itself isn't much of an art, but a catalyst of something greater, in my opinion.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How could a waterfall be viewed as art if water can't?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

lolwut How would paint be considered art, if a painting can't?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How is that analogy relevant? I didn't take a side (though I agree with Courage_Wolf), I asked you a question. What definition of art are you using that excludes water and includes waterfall?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I mean if you want to be a douche and consider "everything" as art, then go for it... but if paint was art, then we would go places to observe that, instead of the painting. So museums would be dedicated to showing paint.

I'm perfectly aware, and you're avoiding my question. I consider water and waterfalls to be spectacular and beautiful, but not art. My personal definition of art is essentially the expression or portrayal of human ideas, inspiration, originality, imagination, creativity, etc. I am asking how you, with your subjective definition of art, think that waterfalls could be considered art but not water itself. What artistic quality do waterfalls possess that water lacks?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Waterfalls travel downwards, duh.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Waterfalls and water traveling through a stream or sitting stagnant in a marsh are all different extensions of the artistic properties of water. A water molecule could even be considered art, if you find the hydrogen bonds or the relationship between the atoms to be beautiful.

The real question is why is Nigel Thornberry posting on anon?
