+363 You're actually glad Facebook hasn't added a dislike button after all the requests. With all the cyber bullying Facebook already harbours, it would just make things worse, amirite?

A status such as //"New body time! Going to start working out!// or //My mom has cancer, everyone please pray// or //Leavin on a jet plane, be back in a week// .. has different ways a 'like' can be interpreted- its just easier to think 'liking' something seems to mean "I acknowledge this." more than actually being happy about it

I think that's why they don't

by Anonymous 11 years ago

no, instead they've added a new "seen by" feature in groups where you can hover over it and see who's viewed every post and when, and they have a track record of using group as pilot tests for the rest of facebook *great*

That doesn't seem like it would work very well... just because a story is on my homepage doesn't mean I'm going to look at it. I skim a lot to find the things I'm actually interested in.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yea, imo its probably the stupidest thing they've added yet. another thing brought up in the article i read about it was that it would pretty much be the end to facebook stalking, which made me lol

I can just see it now, a teenager bawling over how "Over 15 people disliked my status about going out tonight!"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A website shouldn't refrain from adding a feature because they're worried about kids not knowing how to use the block button.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah you can block the single person that takes the time to inbox you, but you can't block the 23 people that made you feel terrible by disliking your profile picture.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you feel terrible because people dislike your status, you need to grow up...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A status maybe.. But there's nothing wrong with feeling hurt because 20+ people disliked a picture of you, or a story you wrote.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Slightly, perhaps. But if anyone goes and kills themselves because some people dislike their picture, it's their fault and Facebook shouldn't bother caring about these people.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, I can.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

None of my friends or family members are that dumb. Anyways, I do care (although I don't //have// to care, as said in the above comment), but I don't think websites should limit their functionality because they're worried what a few over-dramatic dumbasses will do to themselves.

YeahIAm, the problem is not so much getting a few dislikes on one status or picture - I sincerely hope no one would be too distraught over that. The problem would be a large group of kids ganging up on one person and disliking EVERYTHING he or she posts. Some kids might be able to bounce back from logging on and seeing a handful of likes and a ton of dislikes on every single status, picture, comment, etc., but some wouldn't.
