+96 What kind of world do we live in where companies get attacked for stating their opinions? Oreo and Chick-fil-A have every right to voice their opinions on gay rights. And it's their money, they can donate it to whoever they want! If you don't agree with them, don't buy their products! The fact that they are being ridiculed is insane, and horridly hypocritical, amirite?

People also have a right to disagree with these companies, and that includes ridicule. I'm pretty sure they can bitch all they want as long as they're not burning down Oreo factories or Chick-fil-A restaurants.

It's not hypocritical to voice your disagreement on someone's views unless you don't let people disagree with your views. But yes, banning something because of a religious view is unconstitutional.

Denying gay marriage is banning something based on a religious belief. Unconstitutional

I don't get the point you're trying to make. Someone voicing their stance on gay marriage isn't unconstitutional, even if what they stand for is. No idea why you're telling me denying gay marriage is unconstitutional, it's not like I'm against gay marriage or ever implied I was, especially when I said "But yes, banning something because of a religious view is unconstitutional."

I haven't met anyone who is upset that companies have stated their opinions so I wouldn't know if they do that or not.

Chick-fil-a has the right to hate gays, and I have the right to not eat there ever again. We can ridicule as much as we want. Part of free speech is that if you throw a punch, expect a punch to be thrown back. Why would you eat there, anyways? this is a company that feeds you grade F meat from chickens that have probably never seen the sun.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Have you ever eat there?? Also they don't hate gays they disagree in their choice of marriage. If you actually took the time to look it up you could see they plainly state that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Freedom of speech does not exempt you from criticism, so people can ridicule those companies as much as they want to. I don't think Chick-fil-a should be banned, but people are allowed to disagree and complain. I don't see how that makes someone hypocritical.

i can kinda see why some ppl would find it hypocritical that i go out of my way to support Oreo's and JCP (even though i ordinarily wouldnt by alot of either of those) and fiercely boycott Chick-Fil-A...but its what i believe rightquick

What if a restaurant came out saying they donate money to anti-black groups?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Then you should voice your opinion against them and stop giving them any of your money.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's their money, but if they donate it to anti-gay marriage groups that actually HURT people, they are an awful company. One of the groups they donated to helped bring up a bill in Uganda which would allow people to be executed for being gay. That's not an opinion, that's a crime against humanity.

They're donating their money to organizations that parents send their gay children to so that they can "pray the gay away." These are completely ineffective, but do cause the gay children to become suicidal. Source: http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2009/08/05/3123151-psychologists-repudiate-gay-to-straight-therapy
