+225 Even if you're not planning on boycotting Chick-fil-A, it's ridiculous how some people are getting so much hate and criticism for refusing to eat there. It may be Chick-fil-A's right to stand up for their beliefs, but it's also my right to choose not to eat there. I should have a say on where my money goes without being called an idiot, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

As long as you aren't calling the people who are boycotting oreo stupid...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Even though I don't think those people are stupid, it is a little different. Chick-fil-A actually donates money to anti-gay charities. If you go to Chick-fil-A, that gives them more money to donate. Oreo just expressed an opinion.

@Logan: Could you please provide sources?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The whole Chick-fil-A support thing today had nothing to do with whether or not they support gay marriage, it was completely about supporting their first amendment rights. Or is supporting those rights only praised when you insult George Bush, like what happened with the Dixie Chicks back in 2006?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But the whole reason people are doing that is because they support them using their first amendment rights! The mayors of Chicago and New York tried to ban them from their cities because of what the CEO believes, and that's where all this support is coming from.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ya know, the thing about 'Merica is that you can start a gay interest store pretty much anywhere you want! And is there really a town called "Smalltown"?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well I know they're allowed to refuse service whenever they want to whoever they want for whatever reason. And by "this" do you mean mayors not letting them build within the city? Because they're not allowed to do that, for reasons which I have no idea about, but I know they can't because Chick-fil-A brought in lawyers to go and tell them they aren't allowed to do that. But that doesn't mean people in that city have to go and eat there...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've been choosing not to eat there //way// before everybody else... waffle fries suck.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I prefer their breakfast. The chicken minis are some good shit, in my opinion.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Seriously? Haha it's my favorite place to eat.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe I'm biased because I prefer burgers over chicken.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why can't I just be allowed to eat my goddamn oreos or go to Chick-fil-A without extremists on both sides getting angry? It's food. Get over yourselves(not you, the people boycotting stuff).

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Refusing to give money to a group you oppose is hardly extremism.

I should be allowed to boycott any company I want for any reason I want, without being questioned about it, if I feel they are doing something I don't wish to support. And on the other hand, I should be allowed to support whoever I want. It's basic respect, and arguing with people who have strong opinions is a waste of time, so do what you want, but I personally would never support Chick-fil-A (I don't eat there anyways for personal beliefs and dietary reasons)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think all of the controversy is just dumb. I should be able to eat chicken or cookies without having to make some sort of statement.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I hate the owner of Chick-Fil-A. Not because of what he actually said, but because he said it. He has the right to an opinion, but now I have to hear about this EVERY SINGLE DAY.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Everyone on my Facebook is talking about it and most of them are misinformed, which is annoying.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't go to Chick-fil-A purely because we don't have them in the UK lol. Never even knew anything about it until posts were on here and I had to go look it up. But I don't think I'd boycott it if I liked going there, no matter what the owner says.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I dont know if you know this already; but some of the money you spend there goes to anti-gay organizations. So people who support gay rights; even if they live the place; may have a portion of their money donated to said organizations. It isn't simply about stating an opinon.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

chick-fil-a does NOT give money to anti-gay organization!s whoever said that lied to you. The president of the company did not even make a big deal out of it he simply said he supports traditional marriage. the media are the ones who blew it out of proportion and made up shit about their money going to anti-gay groups

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Honestly? I think it's being overblown just a little bit. But at the same time I definitely understand why. People have a right to their own opinions, but when the head of a relatively large business such as Chick-Fil-A openly uses the money I spend on their delicious as fuck waffle fries(don't judge me) goes to shitty hardcoar christianz as fuk groups that are anti-gay and are a BIG part of the reason gay/lesbian marriage doesn't exist? Y'know, that gets me a little pissed off. And what's making it wore is all this backlash is probably going to result in them getting MORE customers! The point is this - you can be the head of a large corporation and still voice your opinions and beliefs. To be quite honest, I wouldn't really give a shit if they were nazis, to be frank. But as soon as they start supporting things that tear down Equal Rights Movements that we've come so far in, as soon as we realize THEY are the thing preventing us from reaching equality... Yeah, I think I can live without those waffle fries. Also surprisingly relevant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO-msplukrw

by Anonymous 11 years ago

the same should go for people boycotting oreo or other pro-gay companies
