+277 You refrain from asking you're teachers seemingly stupid questions that you genuinely do not know the answer to just because you know some other classmate will, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Regrettably. I don't know why I even care about being judged by my peers, since I hate all of them.

*YOUR

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ugh you're right! I'm so mad I didn't catch that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"What's the difference between your and you're?"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your shows possession. You're is just a contraction of You Are. Seriously, how is this not common knowledge?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You fail. Go away.

Captain, another part of the English language is quotation marks. Are you unable to see them?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not really but because those questions tend to be minor and I can go home and look it up versus spending time out of class.

Hate when people see a typo and automatically assume you don't understand basic grammar. Ever thought that maybe, just maybe, it was accidental? Nah, of course not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Of course not, that would make too much sense!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, totally a typo. His hand just ACCIDENTALLY brushed the apostrophe and the e.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's not how I meant accidental. It happens to me all the time; when I'm typing too quickly I often ACCIDENTALLY mix up your and you're. Not because I don't know the difference, but instead because I'm thinking of how the word itself sounds, not its proper usage.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Then don't call it a typo.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"typographical error - (typo) An error while inputting text via keyboard, made despite the fact that the user knows exactly what to type in. This usually results from the operator's inexperience at keyboarding, rushing, not paying attention, or carelessness." It's a typo and that's what I'll call it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A typographical error (often shortened to typo) is a mistake made in the typing process (as of spelling) of printed material. Historically, this referred to mistakes in manual type-setting (typography).[1] The term includes errors due to mechanical failure or slips of the hand or finger,[1] but excludes errors of ignorance, such as spelling errors.

You up-voted your own comment up there. Your argument is invalid. And nowhere does it say that it is *limited to* those mistakes.
