-252 People who say, "I don't personally believe in abortion, but I don't want to force my views on anyone.", really piss me off. I mean, pick a side! If you truly believe that abortion is murder, then you absoulty want to force your views on people! That's like saying, "I don't personally belive in rape, but I don't want to force my views on anyone...", amirite?

Ha. Rape, force, get it? Ok...

I think it really depends on how involved you are in politics. Then again, Orwell put it best when he noted that "in our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred, and schizophrenia."* So when I read this amirite, I see "People who say, 'I don't personally believe in abortion, but I don't want to force my views on anyone.', really piss me off. I mean, pick a side! If you truly believe that abortion is murder, then you absolutely want to join the mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred, and schizophrenia that is American Politics!" hehe * https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/orwell46.htm

I'm fairly certain that when people are diplomatic about their opinions like that, it's to keep from getting chewed out by someone. It apparently isn't working.

I disagree, because whenever someone disagrees with a textbook liberal belief on this site, they're harassed and thumbed down to oblivion. I can understand how that can get annoying, and hence why they would beat around the bush a little.

actually a lot of the gun rights posts are in the positives, as well as a lot of the anti big government posts and many posts criticizing affirmative action. it's mostly only abortion and gay rights amirite is seriously liberal about

There's a difference between being very strong in your opinions and shaming anyone who disagrees with them.

They believe it's wrong for them, is what they're saying. They would never get an abortion, but they're not going to force other people to not get one. That's how beliefs should be.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Abortion should be legal. You don't like abortions, don't get one. But everyone has the right to CHOOSE what they want to do, and not feel controlled.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm for abortion, but "you don't like them, don't get one" isn't a very good argument. If they believe abortion is murder or whatever, it's basically saying to them "don't like murder? don't do it".

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "The hottest place in hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Having an opinion but not caring if people follow it or not isn't being neutral...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They're not taking a stand for their opinion. They're remaining neutral.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not forcing your views on people doesn't make you neutral, it makes you not ridiculously closed minded and somewhat controlling. Not having an opinion makes you neutral. If you take a side, you're not neutral.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Taking a side in your head and not doing anything about it doesn't mean you're not neutral. It just means you're a coward.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You don't have to force your views on someone, but you have to be willing to defend your side. You can't sit there quietly as people continue to attack your opinion.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That still wouldn't make you neutral. You don't have to parade around shouting out your views on everything. You are allowed to have an opinion and allow others to have theirs.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you don't stand up for your opinion than you're no different than someone who remains neutral. You both remain quiet.

What about straight people who agree with gay marriage?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would never get an abortion myself, but I do believe there are situations where getting one is okay (rape, health complications, etc.). I am not in control of other's people's bodies, and so they can do whatever they want with them, whether I think it's right or not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

the reason I personally don't believe in forcing my views on people is because you don't know what situation that person was in when they had the abortion, whether they were raped, in extreme financial difficulty, or who else in the room has had and feels guilty for having an abortion as you sound off about them being murderers, they could have mental health problems which follows after having an abortion and be pushed over the edge. It's like, I wouldn't personally sleep around but that doesn't mean to say everybody else has to do the same, their body, their choice.
