+227 Long distance relationships can work if both people are dedicated to each other, amirite?

Depends on how long distance the relationship is. Sure the two people could be completely faithful but what's the point if they never see each other? Travelling takes money and a long distance relationship can be hard if the couple does not have that. Relationships need that human contact with a significant other.

Well, it depends. If it's only for a few years, I can see it happening if the two truly love each other.

This is my post, my boyfriend moved about a 5 hour drive away from me and I'm moving up there in a few months :) I'll be going up there every few weeks to apply for jobs and my sister lives in the same city too so it's not like i'll never get to see him :) This sort of situation seems plausible, right?

Of course it does. Do whatever you can to keep your relationship going, it's worth it.

(I was in a long distance relationship for 6 months) but in my mind, long distance relationships dont work in the long run, however they can be used as a temporary measure until the couple gets closer. kirrillee's example, it's only long distance for a little while and than she moves there in a few months, thus making it a short distance. OhMyTicTac's example, she left her job to go live with him. again, they made it short distance. why? because being far away from the one you love for too long can be really painful and thats why i say they don't work out. My ex needed a shoulder to cry on during her parents divorce, and i was too far away to give that to her. In the end, long distance relationships are too hard to maintain which is why most couples turn them into short distance or break up

I feel like it depends on the people in the relationsip and the situation they are in.

I feel like the great thing about LDRs is that both people care enough and are committed enough to eachother to make it work. And it makes every moment the spend together mean so much more.

My AP Lang teacher was in a relationship with a guy that lived halfway across the country. Apparently they were really into each other, and she even left her teaching job to go live with him.

My long distance OTP is my friend Carmen and her boyfriend. They've been dating three years, and they've only met in person three times. They met online.

I don't see how they can maintain sexual desire for each other when the average penis length is 6inches...
