-43 If someone molests a child, and then the parent of that child kills the child molester, the parent shouldn't go to jail, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Just to clarify - I don't support the death penalty, and I usually advocate for non-violence, however I think in this situation it is justifiable.

Oh I think, they mean that the parent killing the molester would sort of count as a personal death penalty in the parents eyes?

OP here. I meant, I don't support violence. I would advise a parent to kill their child's molester. But, in this circumstance if the murder is already done, do you believe that the parent should still go to jail?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would not* I believe child molesters are scum and should rot in prison, but I do not support the death penalty or violence. I should have worded it better, but I meant in this situation, the molestation and the murder have both happened. But I don't think the parent should recieve jail time.

It depends. If the parent kills the molester while they're physically attacking the kid, then they're just trying to protect their kid and they don't deserve to go to jail. If the parent tracks down the child molester and shots them while they're watching TV, then it's a murder and an act of hate and the parent should go to jail.

As bad as child molestation is death is not an equal substitute. I'm not in anyway saying that the molester should not be punished.

Ok, so lets say there are 2 outcomes for this post: 1) The parent murders 'Chester the molester'. In the three people involved (possibly 4 [including the other parent]), we have: - a dead person (who was probably loved by others, like family) - a molested child needing counselling - killer parent/s //possibly// needing counselling 2)Nobody murders anybody. Chester is in gaol, and the child can get some help. We have: - a molested child needing counselling I'm not a fan of child abusers. I think they are some of the lowest of scum on this planet. This doesn't justify murdering them.

I agree with you, but the post wasn't saying what the parent would do. It's saying if the parent has already killed the molester, should they go to jail?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But that just supports vigilante justice. That would be like a gateway to other crimes being punished by civilians. "That man robbed my house so I figured I'd just kill him" You can't start deciding what's ok and what isn't.

Punish the parent, then, but not with jail time, for the child's sake.

A Time to Kill?

No jail time for the parents.

The parent should have left it to the police to punish him. Child molesting is wrong, but so is murder, and there was no need for him to take it into his own hands.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Out of interest, what if the parent knew the molestation had occurred, but there was not sufficient evidence to convict the molester?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well if that was true, they would have to expect that they'd go to prison as the police would believe the murder was not justified.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't know. The parent's lawyer could probably make a good case, saying it was a crime of passion.

It's an unwritten rule in prisons that if someone did something to harm a child, other people in there are allowed to basically beat the sh*t out of them and the guards will look the other way.
